just wondering if I’m doing this right but did y’all have a thesis in your personal statement? I know it’s not that type of essay so I just want to make sure bc I don’t have a good writing background

Also still have so much to do and so mad at myself for procrastinating ugh

good luck to everyone ?

What do you mean by thesis?

I definitely wrote a thesis to guide the essay and refer back to while writing but I'm not sure if I'm including it in the actual final copy under the assumption that the points I'm making will be clear enough to standalone. Or I might just simplify it and include it at the end of the first paragraph as more of a transition sentence versus a full thesis!

I was wondering the same thing at first but I found at least writing one was helpful to make sure my statement is on task.

Can you give an example of the thesis you are talking about? I have no clue what you guys are talking about, but I possibly wrote one and just do not know.

@Zehra

When I wrote my first draft I had a pretty obvious thesis, but as I re read it, it started sounding like a research paper, it did not sound like it was coming from the heart at all. IDK how to explain it. Anyways, I threw it out and didn’t include it. It is good for organization though, for sure!

A thesis is a statement that provides the main idea for your essay. It is usually one to two sentences in length and at the end of your introduction paragraph.

I figured, I just did not know how they incorporated a thesis in a personal statement I had to go check mine to see if I did that and didn’t even realize LOL. But I wrote mine like a story basically

I'm not sure either. Mines is also written like a story. I tend to associate having a thesis with research papers. We all have different writing styles and the thesis sounds like it will help some writers keep organized while others don't need. Either way is good.

Hi everyone!

Am I able to do my timed writing assignment and then come back to do my timed video essay? Also are you recorded during the timed writing assignment? I wanted to know whether to make myself look presentable or not.

Thank you in advance!

I'm sure that I know the answer to this but, did y'all memorize your video essay before recording or did you read it off somewhere? Every time I think I've gotten it, I get nervous when I start recording (for practice) that I forget bits and pieces.

@caan

I feel you! That is me right now... I've tried memorizing but I get quite nervous
