Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!
Hello everyone,
This has been tedious for us with the application (essays, video, etc). I just submitted mine a week ago. Do we have to pay Registration deposit fee now? I think once we get accepted then we can pay the fee right? I already paid for the application fee.
I wish yall the best ?

I don't have the email. In order to receive the email all you have to do is start the application, correct? My status says payment pending but I can't pay until everything is complete, right?
Sorry for the late reply! Yes, you just need to start the application. You have to finish the video interview and timed writing before you can complete it and pay. There's a section in the application where it said "check this box if you've done the video and timed writing" so I believe you do have to finish those two things before you can check that box and submit the application. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!!

I remember I had started the application, well opened it the day literally the second it was available and there was some type of corruption where I didn’t the email for the video essay and timed writing. I had emailed admissions and they said they sent me a link and I didn’t get. So I basically had to start a new application and with a different email and worked. So hopefully yours works ! Where you don’t have to make a new email. And correct, you don’t pay until you complete everything

Hi ! Good luck to you as well. And registration deposit fee I believe we pay after acceptance. For now all I know is that we pay for the application.

@queen3lizabeth OMG, the link didn't work the first time? I was planning to do it on the last day. I have the email but didn't even open it because I was afraid I would need to start it once I click on it. I am still not ready to to the video essay and timed writing. Is that how it works? Once we click it, we have to do them or can I click on it just check it out?
Do you guys list countries or cities under Travel? What about any cities in the US?
I do not really know how I should list it - I was born in country A, grew up in country B and came to the US when I was a teen. I have only been to three countries.
Also, I got my application fee waived. But the status is still "awaiting for payment". Is this normal?
Hi all! First post, but I've read the whole thread from the beginning...
I just want to say thank you for all the input that everyone had! It was nice to see some of the same questions (and emotions...) scattered through this thread.
I have a few questions for future and former MDE/DNP (Peds) students:
- Does anyone know about out of state tuition costs? Like ballpark?
- (Peds) What type of experience does Columbia particularly look for in the peds specialty? (Like, do you need to work with/under an NP directly? Or is any hospital/clinical/medical experience substantial?)
- How is everyone doing during this pandemic? Just wanted to spread love and happiness to those taking this pandemic as hard as I am. And who are still actively choosing to push through applications. We got this!!! ❤️

Columbia is a private university so there is no in-state/out-of-state tuition. You can find the amount here for MDE: https://www.nursing.columbia.edu/academics/academic-programs/masters-direct-entry-program-non-nurses/mde-tuition-and-fees

Im curious about the question on Peds too! I’m applying just as MDE this year but I have experience working with children in a research setting.
it’s so sweet of you to ask how we’re doing overall and to spread love ❤️ sending some back your way! For me it’s been a hard transition. I’m definitely a people person and I miss getting to see the kiddos I would interact with at work and my coworkers too.

@am_elle - You can click in to take a look. The 10 minute timed writing is first. You can take a look at that but won't be able to move forward to try the video essay until you complete this section.
Thank you @ank2108. Good luck to us all! ?
Did anyone have any luck emailing someone questions about the Financial Aid application? The email they list: [email protected] comes back undeliverable.
