Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

That makes me feel so nervous ? since they’re receiving probably hundreds of applications. ugh.

Thank you for asking and sharing with us. I was completely wrong about less applications. Will proceed to nervously freak out for a quick second, then breathe again. ?

Im so scared now and doubtful ??‍♀️ I keep looking back at my personal statement thinking if its even good enough now ? since so many people are throwing in their applications

If I thought my anxiety was bad before, it’s so much worse now ? I’m re-evaluating my entire application. Brb while I rewrite all of my essays.

Tell me about it ! Im literally looking though my application and I feel like I need to re do everything ugh. The anxiety is tooo real right now.

I should not have shared that information. I feel so bad now! Just remember that even though the QUANTITY of the applications have gone up does not mean the QUALITY will. 

Also, I think it is important to take the full time allotted to complete the applications. There is always room for improvement so we need to take advantage of that.

No it’s okay ! Because I was going to email them about that too LOL I was very curious to what was going on. I just didn’t expect them to have so many applications in already. But you are definitely right about that. It's all about the quality !

I was just thrown off by the email because it seemed like they were implying that submitting early was better and that has me stressing.

I also thought that by submitting earlier, people will hear back sooner but I guess that's not the case. I wonder why the sudden influx of apps?

I feel like this whole pandemic must of played a part in this. Maybe people suddenly felt the urge to become a nurse with everything that's going on in the world. I say that because I do know a couple people who decided to switch into nursing due to COVID.

Has anyone done the video interview and the timed writing and know what the questions are?

I feel like people are being hesitant to share their question so there is not much to go off of, but I've searched some of the threads and it seems like its just a random anecdotal question. The ones I remember are "whats something unique about you?" and "how do you help someone who is sick?" and then something I think about leadership. 

I haven't done mine yet but I'm just going to practice some timed writes with random questions I find on the internet and then also maybe brainstorm some things I could talk about if the question fits. Kind of like prepping interview questions.

I know that defeats the purpose but I will be an anxious mess if I go into it blindly so even if my prepping doesn't actually help with whatever the question is it will calm my nerves, haha.
