Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

I’m glad they’re giving the students the option, but I don’t think I will be. Just for personal reasons, but it was a little tempting I won’t lie! I am gonna be emailing (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) though to ask if there are going to be any changes to tuition etc since he mentioned cost in the email. Not expecting much of an answer but I’ll update here once I hear back from him!

I did. I had a pretty good non-covid reason though (National Guard Orders), so I have no idea how difficult it is to get a deferment in other circumstances. Personally I am happy it has happened this way as my Guard time will help me get my finances in order and I'd prefer a traditional (not online) learning environment.

I believe they will accept more in the second rounds to make up the 200 students for the cohort this year if a bunch are going to defer to 2022.
For those who are planning to defer, just be aware that CU has 5% tuition increase every academic year ?. Starting fall 2021, tuition gonna be $30.2K per semester meaning fall 2022 tuition gonna be ~$31.7K. So it is just gonna keep increasing the longer you defer (including housing cost).

I declined my offer due to the cost of the program and because it was online. If I knew we had the option way earlier to defer for 2022 I would’ve really thought about it ? because by then classes would be in person and I would get the full experience of the school and NYC. It sucks they didn’t offer that earlier. But it would be worth it knowing thats a guaranteed acceptance for next cohort plus in person classes !
