MDC Spring 2012 :)

Published

Hi guys!

I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.

I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.

So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe

:nurse:

Thank you AlexLL!!!!!!I feel a little scared right know about not getting into MDC , but I have a great chance to get in BC cause I got a 85 at HESI!!!!!MDC is my first choice thought!!!!!

Thank you Faith, I'll keep my fingers crossed :)

Hi everybody,

I'm really glad to have found this thread. I also just finished applying a few days ago for Spring '12 for both the Generic and Accelerated programs.

Let me ask you all what you think: Let's assume you had the choice of either going to generic (4 semesters) or accelerated (3 semesters) which one would you choose and why?

Also, I heard that MDC nursing students may have the option of applying to hospital scholar programs like those offered by Jackson and Baptist. Is this true? And which would you choose between Jackson and Baptist?

Thanks!

Hey Mig, regarding which program to choose, I would go with the accelerated, but it all depends if your currently working or not. Somewhere I read that students in the accelerated program actually do better than student in the generic program. As far as scholarship opportunities all this information will be provided to you on orientation day. Letters of recommendation are usually required for the scholarship programs as well as an interview with a panel of individuals from the institution. How did you on the TEAS and what science GPA are you applying with?

Hey everyone!

I'm glad to be amongst of motivated, hopeful applicants such as myself. I just applied today and I wanted to welcome myself and wish you all the best. Here's to hoping that we all get in!

Welcome, great to have you!

From what I've read I think that Baptist has a scholar program with MDC; while Jackson has one with UM. This may be wrong so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

According to the advisor I spoke with, everyone should know whether or not they were accepted by mid-October. But I hope to hear from them much sooner. I applied with a 4.0 and a 82% test score. Assuming I get in both programs, I think I'd choose accelerated over generic.

Is there a way we can check to see if our applications were successfully put in the system? After Sept 1, do all of our applications get moved from the advisement office to the nursing department?

Thanks!

Hi MigMarVel!

I applied with the same scores :) yay!!! But I'm only applying to the generic :)

Sometimes I wonder how do they choose one person over the other if they are both equally qualified.

Oh and don't worry! I'm sure they will accept you in both programs. :lol2:

Anyways!!! Good luck!!! :nurse:

:D Is everyone excited for the long wait? The advisor told me yesterday it could until Thanksgiving!!

Actually, I don't think that info accurate. MDC tends to give erroneous information all the time. For my mental sake, I just hope this is the case. :uhoh3:

Well I'm sure they just give an arbitrary length of time to save themselves the hassle. If they say any sooner they'd have students coming in daily to ask why they haven't gotten a response.

Wow I don't think I can wait till November, I just want to know already. By any chance did they tell you how many people had applied already? :jester:
