Hi guys!
I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.
I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.
So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe
Hi everybody,
I'm really glad to have found this thread. I also just finished applying a few days ago for Spring '12 for both the Generic and Accelerated programs.
Let me ask you all what you think: Let's assume you had the choice of either going to generic (4 semesters) or accelerated (3 semesters) which one would you choose and why?
Also, I heard that MDC nursing students may have the option of applying to hospital scholar programs like those offered by Jackson and Baptist. Is this true? And which would you choose between Jackson and Baptist?
Thanks!

Hey Mig, regarding which program to choose, I would go with the accelerated, but it all depends if your currently working or not. Somewhere I read that students in the accelerated program actually do better than student in the generic program. As far as scholarship opportunities all this information will be provided to you on orientation day. Letters of recommendation are usually required for the scholarship programs as well as an interview with a panel of individuals from the institution. How did you on the TEAS and what science GPA are you applying with?
From what I've read I think that Baptist has a scholar program with MDC; while Jackson has one with UM. This may be wrong so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
According to the advisor I spoke with, everyone should know whether or not they were accepted by mid-October. But I hope to hear from them much sooner. I applied with a 4.0 and a 82% test score. Assuming I get in both programs, I think I'd choose accelerated over generic.
Is there a way we can check to see if our applications were successfully put in the system? After Sept 1, do all of our applications get moved from the advisement office to the nursing department?
Thanks!

Hi MigMarVel!
I applied with the same scores :) yay!!! But I'm only applying to the generic :)
Sometimes I wonder how do they choose one person over the other if they are both equally qualified.
Oh and don't worry! I'm sure they will accept you in both programs.
Anyways!!! Good luck!!!
