Hi guys!
I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.
I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.
So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe
Welcome, Madarmes! Here's how they calculate your entrance score:
60% TEAS test score
40% Sciences GPA
So let's take your scores:
81 x (.6) = 48.6
GPA is easier, you just remove the decimal = 35
So, 48.6 (TEAS) + 35 (GPA) = 83.6 (Entrance Score)
That's your magic number!
Madarmes,
based on those calculations, i definitely believe you have a reallllly great chance of getting accepted.
I wish you the best! hopefully in a few months you can post the good news :)
Hello all! I also just dropped my application for the MDC nursing program for spring. I applied for generic FT and Bridge FT to increase my chances. I have a 3.5 science GPA and I got an 81% on my TEAS! I am really hoping this will be enough. As far as how many ppl applied the lady showed me the list last week, it had been about 60 ppl, but she said the last two weeks before the deadline is crunch time and that is usually when they all drop their applications. I wish good luck to everyone. By any chance does anyone know how the calculate the scores between the GPA and TEAS. I keep seeing ppl showing scores like 81 out of 100 but i have no idea how they get that number!
60 people sounds like a small amount did she tell you how many students they will accept?
According to the advisor who took my application, she said the generic program they usually accept between 100-150 ppl. The bridge program between 40-50 ppl. But a lot less apply for bridge. Yes ahe said 60 was not a lot but she says most ppl wait until the last minute, so im sure its way more than 60 now, and by the 1st of september there will be hundreds. Hope they accept as many as possible to give us the best shot! Does anyone have any idea on the full time schedules for class. I cant find any information on the bridge program. almost as if no one gets accepted!
Zepphead8,Thank you so much for the breakdown! I really appreciate it. Are you applying? If so how are your scores?
Yep, I applied to the FT Generic program for Spring. I have a 4.0 GPA and a TEAS score in the low/mid 90's, and taking absolutely nothing for granted...just waiting for the e-mail like everyone else!

Sounds like you have a pretty good chance. Hope it works out that way for you :)
Goood luck!
Hello everyone!I am new here too!Hopefully we get into the Nursing program this Spring!!!!I am also interested about TEAS cause I scored also 69.3, and I don't have time to take it again. I have a 3.8 GPA and I want to get into accelerated program!
Your competitive score = (40% SCIENCE GPA + 60% TEAS)
3.8 x 10 = 38
69.3 x .6 = 41.58
38 + 41.58 = 79.58 is your magic number
If you have your bachelors I don't really see an issue getting accepted into the accelerated program. Best of luck

I think you have a good chance. I haven't heard of many people who have applied to the accelerated program. and you're higher in the 70's so i think its a decent spot :) you're gpa definitely helps you.
Good luck!
