  1. Hey fellow homestead students! I would love to meet up with you guys early. I plan on leaving my house around 7, so I should be there around 8-830! So excited, cant wait! Ill look for the people standing next to the infamous vending machines! Hope you all have a good night! Dont forget to get all your paperwork together tonight so you dont forget anything in the morning!!
  2. Yes, once the books started coming in the mail, I went ahead and ordered myself a rolling bag as well! Thanks again for the info!
  3. Wow, thank you sooo much for giving me the entire list! you are too awesome! Im veryy happy to see the books I already bought are still on the list! Only about half more to buy! Just a quick question, are all these books for just the first semester? Or are these all the books for the entire length of nursing school? Because I have here 5 of the books and I think it will take me about a year to get through all of this information!! They are huge text books!?!? Anyone with the answer, I would greatly appreciate it!
  4. Hello all, needless to say I am anticipating our orientation at the end of the month. Anyone who is waiting with me, just wanted to let you know I tried to register for classes but it wouldnt let me. I guess we are just too far out from our orientation day! Oh well- cant wait to meet you all! By any chance does anyone who has attended the orientation have an updated book list? I have been going off the one from last semester and just want to make sure nothing has changed!
  5. I did buy a rolling bag off of amazon. These books are very heavy and there are a lot of them. My only reccomendation is try and buy it off amazon. I was gonna buy one off a store on the internet for 100$ and I found it on amazon for 60$. Look around and find one you like and read the reviews. As for unifrom, I have no idea. I plan on going to book store on Wed if I can make it. Ill post any information I can get!
  6. Hey you guys! I havent checked in in a few days, been kind of busy with school and work. I am glad to see everyone is doing well and getting ready! I know a lot of people have their orientation this week and I cant wait to hear all the great information! Sadly the homestead orientations isnt until the end of the month... But we will be okay! Almost there! As for anyone going to the homestead campus FT, cant wait to meet you all! I have bought a few books already. As far as school books go, they havent been crazy expensive, but they arent cheap. I probably should have waited til orientation but I like to read ahead. Has anyone bought a uniform? A watch? A clinical bag? I havent even been down to the bookstore yet, maybe I will make it down there Wednesday. Wish you all the best!

  8. Hello everyone, Im sure you all are getting geared up and trying to get all your stuff ready for orientation. I just had a quick question. How do we know what uniforms we need? color of shoes? name tags? lab coat? I see everyone has started purchasing stuff but Im trying to figure out how they know what to get.
  9. Jaell, I had Escobedo for CPR about 2 weeks ago. DO NOT sweat it. The class was a joke, we did the test at the end as a group and the actual CPR part is done in a group... I was already CPR certified but it wasnt through American Heart so I needed to do the american heart one for nursing school and for my job. I have never had a CPR class like this where the teacher actually tells you that no one will fail and your cards are already printed up before class... But really dont worry, you wont have any issues. You dont need to buy the book, they give you a printed copy that you wont even need! Have fun, and try your best to learn as much as you can, as a nurse you will need to be profficient in CPR!
  10. Hello everyone! Hope you all are gearing up to get all your things done before school starts! I went this morning to the medical campus to accept my seat in the FT generic program (homestead). Just wanted to let you guys know that before you go to pay your deposit at the bursars office, go to the new student center and get a blue paper that you will need to turn in to the bursar. So they dont have you running back and forth. This time of year there are a lot of ppl in the new student office but thatnfully you dont have to talk one on one to an advisor, someone comes out to get all the acceptance letters from the crowd. The whole process took me less than an hour! I also completed my background check at the office in coral gables which took less than 10 minutes. Super easy! Just gotts get the health screening done which can be accomplished at your family doctor! Just wanted to put out any information I can. Anyone else going FT at homestead let me know! It would be great to know somebody seeing as how I have never been to that campus, and it never hurts to have a study buddy! Wish you all the best! We are almost there!
  11. I just got home from a 12 hour shift and realized that I was accepted for both generic FT at homestead and Transitional FT!! Congrats to everyone who was accepted! Keep your chins up for everyone who was not. I will be declining my seat in the transitional program so there will be one more spot open! Good luck!
  12. Blissberry, SO SORRY! Bad typo! mid November is what it says on MDC.edu. Sorry I didnt meant o cause any confusion!!
  13. Hey evrybody! Thank you so much OEW for all the great info! its really helpful! I hope everyone else isnt going as crazy as I am waiting for an acceptance. But fortunately we know it cant be more than another couple weeks away at most! I call MDC at least once a week, the concensus this week is that we should have an answer by the end of this month! That leaves 12 days to go! This sounds about right seeing is how they already have the orientation scheduled for mid december! Wish I had better news to contribute to you all! But with this school, you can never trust what they tell you at advisment! Wish everyone the best of luck! Keep checking those emails!
  14. Hey guys, I called the school today to find out when the acceptance letters will be sent out. The lady I spoke with said that they were just told today that they would go out a month from today! I am really hoping that this information is incorrect, but with MDC you really never know. Hope everyone is hanging in there. I know Im going crazy with anticipation. Registration for spring starts next week... Oh well- Just thought I would share the information, again- hopefully its wrong! Happy waiting to all of you!
  15. Hey DEA069, Actually I am starting at mercy tomorrow, my hospital orientation begins tomorrow and then Ill have unit orientation down at the ER. If you dont mind telling me, what scores did you get accepted with? Just trying to see where I stand! I wish you the best of luck, ill let you know when I will be in the ER so maybe we can see eachother! Happy waiting to the rest of you! We are nearly half way through september!
