MDC Spring 2012 :)

Published

Hi guys!

I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.

I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.

So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe

:nurse:

We will be auto-registered. I think there are two different blocks, but we don't get to handpick our classes.

Thank you a lot ZeppHead !!!!!!!!!!!

we are using 7th edition. i would wait if you can and see what is on your official booklist. i forgot but yea they mentioned the upcoming students would be using a new edition.

i loooove the medscape app. helps me a lot with careplans while i am at work because it gets right to the point and tells me what i need to know about my pt's disease. now that i say that i do want to add that you will be using your medsurg books this semester. yep, we use 'em for clinical.

um.. as for organization... i use dropbox to have all my notes in one place. i also share them with my friends. it is an online media storage thing. you'll never use a USB again, lol. i cannot tell you how many people lose their USB's at the library. oh and in case you didn't read my old thread, i work at the medical campus library. if you ever see me working, say hello and i may be able to help you out with something :)

professors do allow you to record and i suggest. there is a nice app i use called DropVox. it records and uploads it automatically to my dropbox account. :) awesomeness.

if your skills or health assessment prof lets you, video record during the lab section. it will help you a lot :)

btw guys its not about studying 5 hours a day. honestly there are days i don't study... and i am getting good grades... its about HOW YOU STUDY. don't just read the book and highlight and do little practice questions... write good notes AS YOU READ and study those notes. i'll post an example here...

your fundamentals book separated chapter in mainly 1-3 parts.

1. scientific knowledge base

2. nursing knowledge base

3. nursing process

People that struggle in my class will sometimes only study 2 out of the 3 parts. you need to know all three to really be able to apply the info. so here is how i separate my notes: 1. scientific & nursing knowledge and 2. nursing process

hope it helps =)

After getting rejected for the 2011 Fall term, I have finally been accepted into the generic full time program for Fall 2012 =) I am extremely relieved and ecstatic to finally get one step closer to starting my career. I'm up for the challenge but very nervous about how intense it's going to be. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. CONGRATULATIONS!! To everyone that made it into their respective programs and I will see those of you at the orientation on November 17th. :-)

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

congrats to all who have recently received the acceptance letters. for those waiting, please don't be discouraged i am sure a few more letters will go out soon. but don't give up on you dreams if you don't get in this time around. last year i actually applied to keiser and paid around $400 in app fees (i was an idiot for paying this but i really wanted to start my nursing career) and i got rejected! (how dare they reject me) lol........ i has heart broken and felt i was not good enough if i couldn't get into keiser but then i picked myself up and took my classes at mdc, applied to their program and got in (hooray).

i always thought to myself that everything happens for a reason, i didn't get accepted at keiser because god had a different plan for me and his plan was defiantly better! so keep your head up and keep on trying. it will work yout for you too.:)

i read this and had a similar experience, i gave up on mdc a few weeks ago and started applying to keiser, and the day after my interview i got the acceptance letter for the generic ft class at mdc. god has a plan for everyone and you just have to keep trying and never give up.

Hi everyone!! I received my acceptance email for the Generic full time two nights ago, But will be declining my spot. So don't give up hope!!! :)

Has anybody heard anything from Baptist about the Baptist Scholar Program? Im anxious to get the interview over with. :coollook:

Hello everybody,

I just received my acceptance letter to the full time program. I received this email october 21, but did not open it until today. My deadline to reply was october 28. I had become obsessed checking my email so I spoke to a counselor in the beginning of october and she told me letters weren't going out until november 10th and that I stood slim to no chance of getting in. I was disillusioned so I stopped checking until I noticed the date today and figured I might well check. I was surprised to be accepted, but it is bitter sweet. I have missed the deadline to reply. I am wondering if anybody has been able to successfully reply after their deadline. I am going to the medical campus tomorrow to see what I can do. Hopefully I will still be able to get in. I have scheduled my fingerprinting for tomorrow have printed out all my forms and am going to see the doctor as well, perhaps if I show them that I have all my paperwork done they will allow me to begin school in the spring.
