Hi guys!
I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.
I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.
So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe
im sorry if i sound mean or anything its just that im so frustrated already. I cant understand why it has taken so long for them to make a choice that is based on mathematics. Im at the angry stage of grieving NEXT IS DENIAL!!! :imdbb: Im so thankful for this thread and all of u cause if i had to do this alone i would have already snapped!
Hey no worries pnky...the frustration wears on all of us! Just remember that we're going to have a lot of stress coming our way in the 18 months that we complete our program (or however long your program is) and we MUST learn how to manage that. This is good practice that will allow us to learn ways to clear our mind and focus on constructive things and positivity! As far as 2nd round folks, there will be less time before orientation, but I'm sure that they will also be more leniant in terms of having things done. Still, try to knock out some things you can do now, like your CPR/BLS cert, which is great to have either way. Also, TB tests are pretty cheap so doin the first one now isn't a bad idea. Make sure to find the student health record on MDC's website so that the healthcare worker administering the test can sign it! Most of us will be hearing something very shortly, so hang in there!
I guess decision letters should be out sometime soon now. I hope I get in. Smh this is my second time applying and although my science and cumulative gpas are pretty decent (science: 3.94; cumulative: 4.0), my teas score sucked butthole (72.3).... i just really hope they accept me. But if they don't, I suppose I could always just take that additional class and reapply. idk. Or maybe take up lpn and than just apply for the bridge program.... awww man now I'm starting to feel sorry for myself
What do you guys think??
Pfunk,
Don't feel sorry for yourself because your overall score (82.78) is not bad.
Your acceptance depends on the pool of applicants whom you are applying with. That 80 % teas score the advisors gave as a benchmark for acceptance in the last semester may not actually apply for this pool it can be lower or higher.
One reason I like to know what the members of this thread scores are like is so I can get a feel for what the pool is like this semester and by the scores people have shared with us your score seems to be in the mid range.
However we are not the only ones applying to the program, but another point of reference you can use is the actual ATI print out, it gives you your rank % for the program but the later you took the test the more accurate it will be.
Keep your hopes up!
Thanks Neyla.
You really helped me get off that "funk" so to speak. Not only are us waiting for our decision letters causing a great ball of anxiety, but it also is causing other emotions to spew out as well... confusion (about whats going on), anger (about why is it taking so long for them to decide), but most of all, self-doubt (not thinking one is qualified enough).
I am very fortunate for this forum. Thanks to all of you guys who are apart of this site. It helps many in more ways than you could possibly imagine!
blissberry,
i did my bachelor's in biology. that's why i am kind of upset with the way the accelerated program does its selection. i think having a science background should count for something. my prerequisite gpa is low because i took those classes in my sophmore year which was not such a good year for me. but if they looked at the higher level science classes i have taken like biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology and my grades in them and my overall science gpa, they would see that i definitely deserve a spot! but what can i do! hopefully i get in. what about you blissberry? what did you do your bachelor's in?
p_funk,
i completely agree that this thread is like therapy and the anticipation is getting to all of us! lol! we're almost there! keep yourself super busy for the next two weeks! that's what i am going to do to cope with this!
RNATI, let's hope that a few people applied to the accelerated. You have an excellent teas score, and that is 60% of the decision. Let's just hope that two of us were the only applicants. Ha ha!
As to my education, I have a BS in Geodesy and MS in aerial photo geodesy. Those are very rare here in US. I've been offered a seat in UM for PhD in marine geophysics with full scholarship and stipend. But turned it down at the last moment because I truly want to do medicine. There is only one life, and I think we owe ourselves a shot at finding our true passion in what we do for living.
Gee, it is too early for this deep talk
