Hi,
I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.
Hi all,
Not sure why I hadn't thought of posting on this site before, but better late than never. Anyway, to start- Congrats to everyone that got into the program! :)
I will be starting the accelerated option next month, but I was having some trouble with some things. I actually don't live in Miami right now (moving from out of state) so I have not gotten the syllabi for classes. In orientation they mentioned getting them from the G drive? I won't be down until January 1st so it would be very appreciated if anyone can email them to me.
Also, what stethoscopes are recommended or what type have any of you bought? I was looking into the Littmann Select 28", but not sure if this will do for our program. I really don't want to get the wrong one.
For lectures, we can wear normal sneakers correct? It's during our clinicals we need the white leather sneakers?
Lastly, does anyone know if let's say worst case scenario, I felt the AO was too much for me- would I be able to switch into the generic full-time program? I know at orientation it was mentioned to drop before a W was assigned (which gives us about 1 week) to do so and I called and tried to find out, but wasn't able to get my question answered. I am kind of nervous & classes haven't even started yet, but I think it would be good to know.
I hope one of you is able to help me out with these questions.
Thanks in advance :)
So, we really don't NEED the scrubs from the MDC bookstore? At orientation, they made it seem like we would be sent home and they would know off bat that they weren't the ones from the school. At orientation we were given the prices and they were pricey, so it would be really great to go for more affordable options.
hi all!Im currently in the accelerated program so i just wanted to give you a little advice so you don't have the same inconveniences me and some of my classmates had...
don't buy the uniforms from the bookstore, seriously, you don't need to buy them there they are ridiculously overpriced
Blue angels across the street has all the uniforms including the lab coat (which you don't need)
You can also get uniforms at Uniform Advantage and they will embroider the MDC logo for $10. They have some tops that only cost $10-12 so it comes out to about 20.
you don't need the lab coat unless you want it for class or clinical i guess if you're cold.
I use any old jacket for class (none of my teachers have cared) and I have a white zip up jacket for clinicals

Has anyone from the online bridge orientation received the email from the professor that would contain the link we needed to buy the books for the first semester? I've been checking my spam as well, just in case, but still nothing. There's not much time left, and hopefully they're just sending it after the holidays?
I was wondering if anyone has gotten the mdc badge/name tag that we are suppose to have? I went to Homestead Campus to order it and I was told we need to get them at the Nursing Campus. They also told me they take very long for us to get them once we place the order. Is this only for Clinicals? I hope so, otherwise I probably will not have one on time.

Just get a normal watch. I don't think anyone is going to care about the movement of the second hand.
