Hi,
I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.
Hey Leya, I too graduated from FIU and I agree with the fact that FIU's science classes are harder. I have a science gpa score of a 3.27, but I haven't taken the hesi yet. Did you end up getting accepted to the program? I have to realllly focus on scoring at least above a 90%. Do you have nay recommendations for preparing for the exam? Also do you think I stand a chance in applying for the fall term? I know its way more competitive than the spring.
Hello, I just graduated December 2017 with my AA. However, my gpa is embarrassingly low. I have a 2.78 (accumulative). I was wondering do you guys still think I have a fighting chance in getting into Miami dade or Broward college's nursing program? I didn't take the hessi yet, but will take it by next month. Hoping to get accepted anytime next year..

Yes, if you score really well on the HESI.
I don't want to scare you but the market. Is completely saturated with new graduates for nursing. Hospitals don't want people without experience. Unfortunately they got their pick of the litter here in Miami. There is a shorting of nurses in the US but certainly not in Miami. Make sure you start networking ahead of time in the hospitals you do your clinicals rotations. If not, get ready for a few months search. Now if you move further up north like in Tampa or West like Texas you will get a job within a week. I got a few offers from other states even giving me a sign on bonus for new grads. That is how desperate they are. But not here in Miami. I managed to land in a hospital here in Miami but I can't help but think I got lucky. A bunch of my classmates still haven't found job or even landed an interview.
Thanks dportal2006! I still have a long way to go, but since I have no previous experience in hospital setting I worry about this. Certainly my network in that environment is 0 and I need to work on that, but I am willing to relocate (at least for the 1-2 years of experience everybody asks for), so that gives me hope.
Thank you for sharing and for the tips!

Hi,
I have a few question about the AO.
How many students were accepted into the Accelerated program?
And how competitive is being admitted into the AO? In terms of GPA,Hesi scores etc
