MDC Nursing Spring 2017

Published

Hi,

I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.

Are you referring to the MDC logo? Only the scrub tops and lab coats have the MDC logo. The bottoms from the book store and Blue angels do not.

Anyone from Homestead campus know if they sell the scrubs at their bookstore? (Or just the nursing kit that we need for that matter)

Done with nursing school, what do you guys wanna know

I'm going to add to this. I want to let you guys know which classes to pay most attention to. I'm starting semester 4 in spring so I can only talk about 1-3.

Semester 1:

Fundies- Hardest out of the 4. Study for this class the most.

Assessment- Medium. Just memorizing.

Nursing Math- Should be easy if you are good in chem type calculations like L to ML or ML to oz., etc.

Clinical- Easy.

Skills- Easy.

Semester 2:

Pharm: Hardest. Study almost every day for this class and do not slack.

Med-Surg- Medium. A lot of memorizing about different diseases.

Skills- Easy.

Clinical- Easy.

Semester 3:

Psych- This is the hardest class out of semester 3 for most students.

Pediatrics- Easiest class for myself and most students.

OB- Also easy, really depends what professor you have.

Clinical: Easy.

Hope this helps some of you!

Question about books: do we need access codes for any of them? Because I rented mine.

The schedule isn't what's really busy about the program it's just the time you put in for reading and studying that makes it busy. The second semester there's 2 days of lecture for med surg and 1 day of lecture for pharm and then 2 clinical days so that has been the busiest semester. The 3rd semester you take one class at a time 5 weeks each so it's not as busy as the first two semesters. And the 4th semester there's only 2 classes that you take one at a time as well so not so bad! You can do it though, there's so many students that have kids and have been doing great.

Hi Kim. Thanks for the info. I'am anxious to start the program but a bit nervous at the same time. I have two kids and hopefully won't be as stressful as they made it seem in orientation. I was under the impression that our schedule will be a lot more busy which is not at all. that is a plus. I was wondering if the schedule for semester 2 and 3 are pretty much the same or will they be longer as we progress? Again Thank you for your help.

We've never needed an access code. Usually it's just EVOLVE that we use which they give for free first semester.

Anyone know where they sell petite scrub pants? XS is fine at the waist/hips but drags at the feet. Short people problems.

Hi, were you in the generic program or lpn-rn program?

Is anyone else having trouble finding an affordable sweeping second hand watch? I ordered one but it turned out to be quartz movement. Are they strict on that?

Specializes in MICU.
