MDC Nursing Spring 2017

Published

Hi,

I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.

They told us the same thing on the medical campus. You have to go register in person with an advisor

They told you you had to register with an adviser? They told us online, I'm freaking out. Im going to try again later and if it doesn't work I will contact an advisor. Do you know if it's a specific adviser?

An advisor in Homestead right?

At the orientation they told us that we had to register online. But they told us we would be able to register a couple days after orientation. Well like 5 days passed and it was still giving me the same error that you are getting. A user in this website mentioned that he had registered on campus with an advisor and so I decided to do the same thing. I went in and the advisor registered me for the classes manually. The only thing is that you have to have the class # that you want to register for once you go there. There were other students that were registering too that same day. I would not wait too much if I were you. Good luck.

Thanks! Im going to see an advisor asap!

You can see an advisor at the Medical campus. General advisement in Homestead can't help you if your degree code hasn't been changed. Any advisor can help you at the Medical campus, but if there's a specific class giving you trouble you can talk to Sophia in building 2 on the 3rd floor. When I went earlier they said they're a bit delayed with changing everyone's codes but that everyone would be able to register by sometime in the afternoon.

EDIT: Check your degree codes, they possibly could've changed them by now. A girl I switched #s with said she was able to register at Homestead campus half an hour ago. :3

I was able to register in Homestead with an advisor (my degree code hasn't been changed)

Odd how when I went they couldn't help me and I went early today to med. campus to register before all the classes I wanted were gone. Hope you all got the classes you wanted.

at what time did you go? I got there around 9 .. there was an advisor that didn't want to help a student because she wasnt clear to register

That wasn't me, by 9 I was omw to Medical campus. But yeah, I was getting all sorts of errors and despite me having all the classes I wanted in my cart they said I had to go to medical campus to sort that out. The disorganization sometimes could make your head spin, but I'm glad I didn't have to give up some classes in my cart.

hi all!

Im currently in the accelerated program so i just wanted to give you a little advice so you don't have the same inconveniences me and some of my classmates had...

don't buy the uniforms from the bookstore, seriously, you don't need to buy them there they are ridiculously overpriced

Blue angels across the street has all the uniforms including the lab coat (which you don't need)

You can also get uniforms at Uniform Advantage and they will embroider the MDC logo for $10. They have some tops that only cost $10-12 so it comes out to about 20.

you don't need the lab coat unless you want it for class or clinical i guess if you're cold.

I use any old jacket for class (none of my teachers have cared) and I have a white zip up jacket for clinicals

I'm going to add to this. I want to let you guys know which classes to pay most attention to. I'm starting semester 4 in spring so I can only talk about 1-3.

Semester 1:

Fundies- Hardest out of the 4. Study for this class the most.

Assessment- Medium. Just memorizing.

Nursing Math- Should be easy if you are good in chem type calculations like L to ML or ML to oz., etc.

Clinical- Easy.

Skills- Easy.

Semester 2:

Pharm: Hardest. Study almost every day for this class and do not slack.

Med-Surg- Medium. A lot of memorizing about different diseases.

Skills- Easy.

Clinical- Easy.

Semester 3:

Psych- This is the hardest class out of semester 3 for most students.

Pediatrics- Easiest class for myself and most students.

OB- Also easy, really depends what professor you have.

Clinical: Easy.

Hope this helps some of you!
