MDC Nursing Spring 2017

Published

Hi,

I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.

I went and paid the deposit today. I asked the girl when the deadline for second batch was and she said the end of the month but it'd be preferable to get everything done before orientation, I will try my best to aim for that date.

Does anyone know if we *have* to use the backround check website they send us in the email or I can just go to a police station and get the backround and fingerprints done there? Because the latter would only cost me $30

Hi! I have orientation on Dec 2nd as well for the AO program. And I graduated from FIU in 2014.

Do you know the cost at FIU and if they do all the screenings required?

Hi Yesi, I contacted FIU and they told me if you already graduated they can do it up until the following semester. And there's a fee if you aren't enrolling in classes.

Kathleen, Do you know what room number we need to go to on Saturday for the CPR Class? It is showing on my paper as TBA.

Honestly I was wondering the same thing. You could try and call MDC homestead to find out, right now I'm heading out somewhere that I won't have any reception til the afternoon but when I got home I was going to try and call myself.

I called the nursing school today and they told me it absolutely has to be the backround check given to us in the link, good thing I didn't go to the police sration or that would have been $30 wasted :dead:

I signed up for the CPR/BLS 6 hour course on Sunday at Hialeah campus, is anyone here going to that one?

nirsingst, I just got a phone call from MDC. The room is G205. :)

For those of you in the programs already: where do the clinicals take place? I'm FT Generic so I don't know if generic and accelerated do it in the same place but I'm curious to know where we will have to go.

Totally depends on the instructor you'll have and which hospitals will take your group. In my program (AO) we were expected to go to Jackson, but because we lost x amount of people, there was a quick change in hospitals, and sometimes the hospitals can drop your group for any reason. It's a bit of a hassle but the professors will ensure you get a clinical, it's just a matter of where...

Hey

i got accepted for the full time generic at the medical campus and if u go on their website there's a list of where the clinicals take place

I believe so. You do not qualify for grants/financial aid if you already have a Bachelor's degree.

Oh thank God financial aid is available for FT Generic lol.

I think most if not all of you have gotten your flu shots already but in the off chance that you haven't, Costco is offering it for $14.99 and you don't need a membership to go get it. I'm getting mine tomorrow after I leave the wellness center.

:( well that sucks to know.

BTW, for anyone who may know this:

1) As far as the flu shot... is there anyway at all to opt out of it?

2) Has anyone taken the CPR/BLS classes elsewhere that is not at MDC? If so, where and how much?

Thanks!
