Hi,
I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.
Going over these vaccines and most we should have had done when we were younger. It's just finding the records for them might be hassle. Going to my doctor on Saturday to see what they have.
It really doesn't matter if you have the vaccine records or not because the titers are required regardless. Also, bear in mind that immunity changes over time. So because someone got the vaccine years ago, that does not guarantee immunity. The titers could still come up negative or equivocal.
The only exception at the Wellness Clinic is the TDaP since they don't do titer for this one. If you have proof that you have received the TDaP in the last 10 years then there is no need to get the vaccine now.
I should have been clearer, but yes I meant the ones requesting vaccine... those we should already have :-)As far as the Hep B it doesn't indicate a time frame like Tdap does. Do any of you know if a booster will be needed or we can just provide records of when we had it completed?
They test for the Hep B antibody along with the titers.

The vaccine record is not enough. They will do titers for the following : MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), varicella and Hep B. If you are not immune to any of these (even if you previously received the vaccine) then you will need to get the shot. In my case my Hep B was low so I had to initiate the Hep B vaccine. It is a 3 series vaccine over 6 months.
Hope that answers your question...
Thanks!I am specifically wondering about the Hep B because this section says record of vaccine OR antibody results. They just do not mention how long from now would they prefer it to be.
FYI, Any current or past FIU students? The tests seem cheaper than at the MDC Clinic
Hi! I have orientation on Dec 2nd as well for the AO program. And I graduated from FIU in 2014.
Do you know the cost at FIU and if they do all the screenings required?
I cannot speak for the other programs but for the Accelerated Option, there is no financial aid, you can get short term loans from the school and take out other loans to pay off the rest. I have seen other students from Broward where they are in a program that pays off the school but I believe they must have 100% attendance and maintain a certain GPA and also have a signature from the professor every class period in order to eligible, unfortunately I do not know much about that since I live in Miami Dade.
Another thing is, DO YOUR FAFSA REGARDLESS, there is this random scholarship they hand out and it gives you a considerable amount of money to pay off the program, students have never applied for it but they have received it, it's random, but they all did their FAFSA. What are the qualifications? Just don't fail a class!

It is and it's only going to get busier from what she told me. It's a minimum of 4 appointments. The package is $325 since they don't have the flu shot (you have to get that separately). As far as the titers go, you get the results after your 2nd PPD reading. If your PPD comes back positive, you need a chest x-ray which is extra. Also, anything you aren't immune to means you're required to get a vaccine (booster if your count is low) for that too (extra). I filed for my FAFSA for 16-17 way back in March.
