MDC Nursing spring 2014

Published

So I'm starting the post for Spring 2014. I'm currently waiting for my acceptance letter for fall term but just in case applying for spring is my back up plan.

So my GPA is 3.0 and my teas is 72 giving me a score around 73.

Since I didn't get a first round email for fall I'm thinking of retaking my teas test so if anyone is willing to study with me please let me know. Good luck to everyone applying for spring!!

The only thing that has to be done by 10/31 is the deposit. The rest of the forms are to be turned in before or at the orientation. The woman I spoke with in the nursing department strongly suggested that I turn it all in before to avoid the craziness the day of.

Also note that they require two TB tests at a minimum of three days apart, so this requires several visits to the clinics and labs. They also potentially require chest x-rays if one of those tests should come back positive, so jump on that early.

Thank you for this information! I just did my background check yesterday so in about 4-5 days I will pass by that office to get the original.

Correction... I meant the deposit has to be paid AND the acceptance letter has to be submitted...

I went to the medical campus yesterday to accept the generic full time (and decline AO) and wanted to post what I found out about all the paperwork.

Once you have your fingerprints done at the 3rd party company, they send it directly to the school and you're supposed to receive an email when it's available. I had mine done on 9/30 and never got any email... They say two to three days, so I'd give it a week. You go to room 1355 to pick up the results of that first background check. They give you the only original and advise you to make several copies and a scan. You also submit to them a form for a second part of the background check. They have this form in the office or you can find it on the nursing program page at the bottom, in the fine print, under FDLE Waiver and Statement form.

The original background check paperwork that they give you, the BLS/CPR card copy, the student health record, and the drug screening/Titers/Vaccine documentation are all submitted together (they won't take it piecemeal) either at orientation or beforehand in the nursing office on the third floor of building two. The woman advised me to submit it before the orientation to avoid the mad rush. Also note, the drug test has to be delivered in a sealed envelope from the healthcare provider.

I asked about the Pearson Testing Session. They told me that we'll get the details at orientation, but that it's just a basic assessment to figure out where we all are. She assured me it's nothing to freak out about - which is good, because I was already starting to...

To everyone who's gotten into the program they wanted, congratulations! I look forward to shedding blood, sweat, and tears with you in the coming months. To those of you that are still waiting, keep the faith! Most everyone applies to more than one program and they won't know who's accepting which programs until the end of the month. Good Luck!

Is anyone doing the student health record, and the drug screening/Titers/Vaccine at MDC?

Is anyone doing the student health record, and the drug screening/Titers/Vaccine at MDC?

I saw this link on the website and it says that the cost is $225 all inclusive forthe nursing program requirements but I do not see anywhere that it includes the required Hep B vaccination. Campus Information - Medical Campus | Miami Dade College

And is this for 1 TB test or both?

Yes I will be doing everything through MDC. I dont have insurance plus through MDC I could get everything done at once.

I went and did my physical today at the medical campus. I got the first TB, they drew two tubes of blood and a urine test. I have to return on Friday for the second TB. As for the Hepatitis B, I hadn't noticed and I will ask. Also, I don't think they do flu shots.

Yeah, I'm on the same boat.

Ok so I just called the wellness center and they told me that you would only need the Hep B vaccine should your blood-work (she said PPD) come back and says that your immune system is compromised...she said the same thing for the chest x-rays :/ Per 2 different people at the MDC Medical Campus Wellness Center, the "all inclusive" covers everything, minus the flu shot. I will confirm all that on Friday when I go there in person. Should anyone get more up to date info/confirmation, please post it for the rest of us. :)

Also, I did my fingerprints (go early if you can, it took me like 15 minutes) and accepted my FT generic seat and declined my AO seat today....yay!!! SOOOO CLOOOOSEEEEEE!!!! (last post, I promise :cheeky:)

Hi AO peoplethqnks for your emails I will add you tonight after work and post the FB group name here.

@Miri . What # did you call to contact the wellness center? Every time I call its just a automated message and tells you to leave a voicemail
