MDC Nursing spring 2014

Published

So I'm starting the post for Spring 2014. I'm currently waiting for my acceptance letter for fall term but just in case applying for spring is my back up plan.

So my GPA is 3.0 and my teas is 72 giving me a score around 73.

Since I didn't get a first round email for fall I'm thinking of retaking my teas test so if anyone is willing to study with me please let me know. Good luck to everyone applying for spring!!

Does anyone know or have an idea about when the second emails will be coming out? I calles today and all they told me was that there might not be any second email or they might. That they don't know. So it kinda scarred me. Should I call advisement to know the status of my application or would they tell me to just wait ?

Spoke to an adivsor today the second batch goes out nov 1 but she doesnt know how many more :/

@JulieAlvarez I believe it was a 75. Around there. Almost the same. So what are you planning on doing ?

Truthfully the part time schedule doesnt work for me at all and i dont have 2+ years to spend to get an AA . I have 2 girls so I am trying to do this as quickly as possible and during their school hours.

I sure hope so!!!! There's a lot to do an so little time specially when people already have a busy schedule.

Yea i know! I feel the same way about the time frame. I'm trying to get it done as quick as possible, but I feel that I'm gunna have to stick to the part time.

I guess we can only pray and hope for now kuz everyone calls advisement and gets a different answer.

Does anyone know if we have to wait on open registration to register for classes or maybe we have to wait on orientation?:o

I was wondering the same thing. I got my registration appointment date and I'm not sure what to do.

Don't stress! It is a common thing to apply for more than one option. I, for instance, did just that. We have until Oct. 31st to pick one and reject the other. I'm sure e-mails will go out once the deadline is cutting close or once it has passed. Be patient and stay positive.

The people who were accepted the 1st round have until October 31st to accept/decline their seats. The 2nd round of acceptance letters will be sent out November 1st. They won't know how many more people to accept 2nd round until then because some people were offered acceptance into multiple programs and have to choose 1, some people may decline entry altogether. It sucks, but it's a game that must be played by the books.

You have to wait until Orientation to register. Nursing students are divided into Sequences for class purposes, so you have to wait for that info. Also, there are times where students may have their campus changed if there's someone that wants to switch with them, so you have to wait to see if they will allow that. All of that will be discussed in Orientation.

SN: I'm still taking my pre-reqs, but I have been stalking AllNurses for a long time and I know 3 people who have been through MDC's ADN program in the past 2 yrs. :-)

^^^Thank for the info. That's very helpful.

I went to the medical campus yesterday to accept the generic full time (and decline AO) and wanted to post what I found out about all the paperwork.

Once you have your fingerprints done at the 3rd party company, they send it directly to the school and you're supposed to receive an email when it's available. I had mine done on 9/30 and never got any email... They say two to three days, so I'd give it a week. You go to room 1355 to pick up the results of that first background check. They give you the only original and advise you to make several copies and a scan. You also submit to them a form for a second part of the background check. They have this form in the office or you can find it on the nursing program page at the bottom, in the fine print, under FDLE Waiver and Statement form.

The original background check paperwork that they give you, the BLS/CPR card copy, the student health record, and the drug screening/Titers/Vaccine documentation are all submitted together (they won't take it piecemeal) either at orientation or beforehand in the nursing office on the third floor of building two. The woman advised me to submit it before the orientation to avoid the mad rush. Also note, the drug test has to be delivered in a sealed envelope from the healthcare provider.

I asked about the Pearson Testing Session. They told me that we'll get the details at orientation, but that it's just a basic assessment to figure out where we all are. She assured me it's nothing to freak out about - which is good, because I was already starting to...

To everyone who's gotten into the program they wanted, congratulations! I look forward to shedding blood, sweat, and tears with you in the coming months. To those of you that are still waiting, keep the faith! Most everyone applies to more than one program and they won't know who's accepting which programs until the end of the month. Good Luck!

I've done my background check and fingerprint and already turned in my response form and paid my fee. My cpr/bls course is schedule for this saturday 26th. I'm missing the student health record which I think I will be doing it at one of the locations the school gave us. What I want to know if all if these things have to be completed by oct 31 or orientation?

The only thing that has to be done by 10/31 is the deposit. The rest of the forms are to be turned in before or at the orientation. The woman I spoke with in the nursing department strongly suggested that I turn it all in before to avoid the craziness the day of.
