  1. You have to wait until Orientation to register. Nursing students are divided into Sequences for class purposes, so you have to wait for that info. Also, there are times where students may have their campus changed if there's someone that wants to switch with them, so you have to wait to see if they will allow that. All of that will be discussed in Orientation. SN: I'm still taking my pre-reqs, but I have been stalking AllNurses for a long time and I know 3 people who have been through MDC's ADN program in the past 2 yrs. :-)
  2. The people who were accepted the 1st round have until October 31st to accept/decline their seats. The 2nd round of acceptance letters will be sent out November 1st. They won't know how many more people to accept 2nd round until then because some people were offered acceptance into multiple programs and have to choose 1, some people may decline entry altogether. It sucks, but it's a game that must be played by the books.
  3. I bought "Getting Ready for A&P". Thanks for the YouTube info and Barron's. I'm trying to get as much of a heads up as possible!
  4. Yeah, I agree with JonnyVirgo ... I'm not sure if you just typed it wrong in the post, or if you are just listening/recording your data wrong. Revisit that and try again. Good luck!
  5. Congratulations!!!!
  6. Congratulations to you!!!! I am glad you paced yourself and went in with confidence in your study methods. Enjoy your new career!
  7. I'm 31, single, no offspring. I work in Law Enforcement (have been for about 7 1/2 yrs) but am looking to do something different. I was in a Magnet program in high school and was in the Nursing track. Why I didn't continue on with it in undergrad is beyond me. I have an Associates in Gen Ed, Bachelor's in Communication, and Master's in Org Mgmt & Leadership. I am excited about finishing my prereqs and applying for my ADN at either MDC or HCC in Florida. The Pre-Reqs I still have to take are: A&P I (w/Lab), A&P II (w/Lab), Mico (w/Lab), and College Algebra (I took MGF 1106 instead of 1105 in undergrad). I will be taking College Algebra with A&P I (w/lab) in the Spring, then A&P II (w/lab) with Micro (w/lab) in the Summer. Hopefully I can get into MDC's ADN program starting Spring 2015. I'm excited and it appears the rest of the 30-somethings are as well. Yay us!!!
  8. I want to do the same thing - work as a CNA while I finish my pre-reqs and while a NS to get some experience and my foot in the door someplace. I can't help w/the salary thing b/c I'm in Florida and not employed as a CNA (nor do I know any here).
  9. Congratulations! I'm going to get the Idiot's Guide and read up on that while I finish my last pre-reqs.
  10. Good question. I don't have the answer, but I am curious to know what others in the Tampa Bay area have to say. I am finishing up pre-reqs for nursing school, and am considering sitting for the CNA license to do CNA until I get my RN license. I hope someone else in the TB area responds. Good luck with everything!
  11. I am in Central Florida looking into Nursing School either here or in SoFl. I am looking into doing the CNA course and doing that while finishing my pre-reqs and possibly continuing it as a NS. Thanks for posting this .... let's me know I'm not alone in my thinking. :-)
