MDC new requirements Spring 2011

I'm taking my pre-requists at MDC and I'd like to ask you guys a question since you applied already for the program. Do you think that they are taking in consideration the volunteering experience or it's only the Teas and the science GPA? cause I haven't heard that volunteering is important to get accepted at MDC.

I'm applying for the Fall 2011 term too... The only things they are going to look at is the Teas which is 60% and your gpa which is 40%... its similar to a point system if you think about it.. multiply your gpa by ten and multiply your teas exam by .60 and add the two together.. ie.. 4.0 gpa x 10 =40 and 100% Teas x .60= 60 and 60+40=100!!! so this is what will get you in... needless to say the biggest impact will be your Teas score!!! good luck hope to see you in the Fall and study for Teas V! Fall is always more competitive than spring term because of the size of the applicant pool! Congrats to all of you that made it in!!! :yeah: :nurse:

Hi Shamanai!

Can you tell me why the Fall is more competitive than the Spring? I spoke with a student nurse at MDC and she said that with the TEAS V you must score an overall 58.7%. Were you told the same?

Its 3.875. That's from the chair person of the nursing program. She told us today during orientation.

Wow! Its getting higher then. I have a 4.0 GPA and I hope I keep it that way. Has the ride been enjoyable so far?

Thats the score u must have in order for u to submit an application....as far as fall being more competitive there are always more students applying for fall term.. That being said there are a lot of ppl with high stats

u have a perfect gpa....as long as ur science pre req is good and ur teas are great ur in! Remember....teas is the majority of ur score!!!

Wow! Its getting higher then. I have a 4.0 GPA and I hope I keep it that way. Has the ride been enjoyable so far?

Many people who got accepted had 4.0 gpa. so it is getting competitive. last semester was 3.75 cut off.

Registration started noon yesterday. I got all my classes as soon it opened up. If you're having problems, call advisement or the school of nursing asap.

Thanks! I actually went today for the assessment and a bunch of us hadn't been updated in our degrees so thats why I couldn't register. Everything is cleared up now and I'm registered and ready to go! By the way, I wanted to tell you guys that I heard a lot of people had very high GPA's but that doesn't necessarily mean you need to have a high GPA. My overall was a 3.06 and my sciences were all B's. I'm not sure how they calculated it all but I did get an 81% on the TEAS, so that is a very important test to get into the program, so I would recommend getting a really good grade on it.

I am not even finished with my courses and I have trouble registering for pre-req's because they're are a shortage of professors. Do you register online?
