Dear Student:

Thank you for your application to the Miami Dade College, Medical Center Campus, Nursing Program. As a result of your excellent GPA, this year, we REQUIRE that you attend an information session in order to receive information about exciting scholarship opportunities MDC has developed with the Mitchell Wolfson Senior Foundation. This information session will inform you of various scholarship opportunities, tips for preparing for Nursing School and important dates.

Please RSVP by June 16, 2010 for the information session below:

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 5:30pm Medical Center Campus Room 1175

Space in the information session is limited. It is important that you RSVP in advance.

I received it too. Are you going to go?

See the thread "Any Miami Dade College students going for the acceler. or Generic option fall 2009?"

And yes, I received it

I just started my first semester of nursing school at Dade. I'm going to Homestead campus because I hate driving, and I think I'd shoot myself if I had to commute all the way to the Medical Campus.

So far...I really like it. It's slightly disorganized...like some of our classes had too many students and whatnot. Also, the equipment in the lab isn't really...up to par, I guess. The medical campus obviously has better equipment. But it's good enough. I really like my teachers so far. I'm crossing my fingers that they stay this nice. They seem extremely helpful and willing to help out.

I'm still scared cause obviously I haven't had any tests yet, so I'm not sure what kind of tests these teachers give and whether they're difficult or not...but otherwise, I'm really enjoying the experience so far!

I read about the new criteria too. I graduated with a bachelors but finished with a 2.6 many years ago. Im taking pre req's now and getting straight A's :) Does this mean my old gpa wont be taken into consideration and only the natural science GPA and TEAS scores will be looked at? Do I still have a fair shot at acceptance to either Generic or Accelerated? Thanks everyone for your advice :)
