  1. I just started my first semester of nursing school at Dade. I'm going to Homestead campus because I hate driving, and I think I'd shoot myself if I had to commute all the way to the Medical Campus. So far...I really like it. It's slightly disorganized...like some of our classes had too many students and whatnot. Also, the equipment in the lab isn't really...up to par, I guess. The medical campus obviously has better equipment. But it's good enough. I really like my teachers so far. I'm crossing my fingers that they stay this nice. They seem extremely helpful and willing to help out. I'm still scared cause obviously I haven't had any tests yet, so I'm not sure what kind of tests these teachers give and whether they're difficult or not...but otherwise, I'm really enjoying the experience so far!
  2. Thank you! I'm still really shocked I got in...I feel like they're going to call back and be all like "JUST KIDDING!" or that my drug test is going to come back positive or something equally tragic. I applied to the Generic program in Homestead. It's pretty convenient cause that's closer to my house than the Medical Campus...Although my classes are going to be at seven AM...and that's never convenient. =/ Oh well...can't have everything.
  3. I had a 3.7 after Spring. And after my three Summer classes, I have a 3.75... When I called they told me the lowest GPA that got in was a 3.75.
  4. Well....try looking at a bigger picture. Where do you wanna be once you graduate? If it's in that apartment, then you might as well go for it now. But if you have bigger plans for yourself after you graduate, then you might as well have some patience, stay with your parents and save that money for something bigger and better when you graduate.
  5. I was a theatre major before I decided to be a nurse. I couldn't picture myself being a nurse and sometimes I still can't, but I don't think I would have worked so hard to get into nursing school if I didn't really want this. I want to be a nurse because I want to have the option to travel, and go back to school and finish my theatre degree without having to worry about being financially unstable for the rest of my life. I think nursing opens up limitless options that no other job or degree can...especially with this economic state.
  6. I still disagree. I think this particular case is ridiculous to FIRE someone. First of all, it's such a broad statement. The term "A cop-killer" itself is broad. Even though it's a bit obvious about what she's talking about due to the article, and how it is presented in the context...she could have probably taken this to a court and argued that she was talking about something completely irrelevant to a patient, the hospital, etc. She could argue that she was talking about a video game or a dream, or song lyrics and there really would be no way to disprove her argument. She really didn't disclose any information. I think a warning and/or suspension would have been enough.
  7. I recently got accepted into the nursing program. I was going to get all my titers and drug tests and my physical done by my physician, but then I found out that I'm still young enough to get all my work done by my Pediatrician. So, I'm going there because he knows my medical history best and pediatricians give TB tests for free, I think. So...basically, he has my immunization records. Since he has all this documentation, is it still necessary for me to get titers or are my immunization records enough?
  8. Jobs take it too far sometimes imo... My friend was working in Pier One Imports and she was written up because she wrote, "I don't want to go to work today!" on her twitter. That's retarded. Everyone is entitled to their privacy and personal lives.
  9. I called the medical campus and asked to speak to an advisor. I told them I hadn't received any letter and I wanted to check my application status. They told me I needed to go to the medical campus to check my status. We hung up, and then I thought to myself, "HELL NO!" And I called back, and I said, "Look. I did everything right. I payed my application fee, and I wanna know what's up with my application." So she checked it out for me. And I got the call about a week and a half later. So be persistent!
  10. I called because I hadn't received any letter, and they told me I was one of about thirty students on a waiting list in case other people rejected the program. The advisor told me "I wasn't next on the list"...so I pretty much accepted that I wasn't getting in. But I got a phone call a few days ago! And I got in! :) Now I have to rush to get my drug test, titers, background check...It's so stressful. I wanna enjoy the last few weeks before the chaos starts!
