Anyone trying for MDC RN program in Fall 2010??
Any takers for the part time program?
I have applied for the Transitional RN program online. I am not stressed about getting into the program however I am concerned with whether or not Ill be able to work. The advisors were not very helpful. No would could tell me what days labs or clinicals were typically scheduled. I guess Ill just wait and see...
Ohh I have microbiology and math only. I am not taking the lab either because... I am kind of lazy... :). And wow I forgot you guys are doing the PT program! I am not working... it must be tough to handle school and work. Kudos to you guys.
Oh I took human growth and development but my teacher made it pretty pointless. He practically gave everyone A's. I wish I had taken it with a better teacher.
Tatortots you have a good GPA!! I am sure you'll get in. As far as I know I have a 4.0, but grades come in tomorrow for the spring term so we'll find out if I am still there... I am super nervous.
Hey out there!!! I have applied for the August 2010 full time generic program at MDC. I also heard about the new changes for January 2011. I think it will help a lot of people who may not have such a good GPA. I currently have a 3.85 and with three children, ages 8 months, 3 and 13 years old I would love to push it to January but I am a bit unsure of the new TEASE test that they are going to be giving. So I figure I will just take my chances and start now. I am a bit crushed though that Baptist is not issuing any scholarships for the August term. I will admit that I am a little nervous about doing the classes at the Medical campus. I live next to Baptist so the drive to the Medical campus will be
Does anyone have any advice on the teachers and or classes at the Medical Campus? Please let all of us "new" kids on the block know.

My suggestion is " if you can drive 'till Homeastead campus" you won't regret it. The best professors! I can't give you name because is not allow as per this page rule. I am a rn generic 3rd therm student at homestead campus and I can assure you that all the professors are very nice and kind ( at least the one I had ). Many of my friends xfransfered to medical and some of them regret it??? that's what they say...who knows.
Gongrats and you'll do fine
good luck!
Hi Ra-ma13, thanks for the reply. I was under the impression that the homestead campus no longer offered classes for the nursing program. I am going to call right now to figure this out. I know you can't post any teacher recommendations on this site but if you could email me at [email protected] and give me any advice I would really appreciate!!!!!!

Homestead campus does offer classes for the nursing program but is only offered to generic and full time. When you apply to have to mark the campus of preference. If you already did, I guess you can call and ask.
Don't worry about the professors names. In Homestead there are pnlya few professor, and they offer always the same classes. So you have no choise. But I can assure you that they are all great! So far I have had a great experience in all my classes. Good luck!

Hi mirandabailey and all ! I graduated from MDCC years ago, the nursing program is one of the best. I'm excited for you and felt compelled to write. As stated, my attendance was long ago, I can't give you advice on the teachers, but : I lived down the street from South Campus and had the same misgivings about driving to Medical Center. My classes at South Campus were horrible! If todays restrictions existed I would have never made it. After 2 semesters of withdrawals and D's I moved to the Med Campus and excelled, the coursework was completely different from south campus. Maybe you can schedule a visit and decide what is best for you.
I am sooooo confused as to what would be best. My husband works for the city of Miami Fire Dept. and his station is right next to Jackson. He leaves our house by 6:30am and makes it to work by 7:00am. Not a bad drive at all, but my concern is that what it I have classes that start at say 9:00am. The traffic would be HORRIBLE:uhoh3: Does anyone know what the schedule is like? I have applied for the generic full time. By the way I just wanted to say that I think it is wonderful how those of you who have gone thru this, graduated already, and/or already a nurse and working come back to this site to help all of us newbies out:yeah: I thank you!!!
Traffic to get to medical campus is horrible. I went to Wolfson a lot for my prereqs and I would sometimes go more than an hour before class to make it on time... you gotta do what you gotta do... lol. I've always heard good things about medical campus... Ive gone there a few times and it seems everyone is pretty approachable.
EDIT
Oh and they have looots of nice resources at medical campus for nursing students... I'd rather go there... I live by Doral and Homestead is just TOO far for me lol.

I feel your pain. I am buying a house, closing set for end of May. Add to that all of my bills and two cars--YAY. Well, I am still going to try, you never know if everything works my way and I find the perfect night job.
