Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?
I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!
I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol
Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat
If I were you I'd get the actual Med calculations book that we need. Its this one:I don't know for a fact which Fundies book we are going to use because supposedly they changed the editions for fall. I could find out for you though.
Thx for cluing me in!
Hi Yisy4u, definitely take classes toward your BA! If you completed an AA, you're more than halfway there. Take HUN1201, SYG2000, I believe you'll need an additional math class besides Sta. Anything you take now, will always benefit you later. If you've only completed an AS then get a move on....you'll need ENC1102, additional humanities and social sciences, Micro lab....do it, don't wait till after the program. My other suggestion is about your TEAS score...if you've scored above an 80, I can say you're safe (considering your GPA is respectable), if lower, you should consider retaking just to cement your chances and assure your efforts don't go to waste. Best of luck!!
Hi Brenda001
thanks for the input :) I registered for SYG2000, Hun1201 and Statistics. :)
About my teas...I took it twice already I ended up with an 82 and have a 4.0 GPA...which means that I'll be applying with an 89.2. I really hope that's enough to get accepted into the full time generic program
I cannot wait to start I even bought my stethoscope already lmao
Hey guys maybe you can help me. If I already have my AA what classes can I take that can count towards my bachelors? Just like some of you my back up plan in case I dont get accepted is to take classes toward my bachelors so I'm still productive and learning in the meantime until I apply again next year.
I really appreciate your input!

Yisy4u, that is more than enough to get you in for sure!! Make sure to check out rate my professor and get some feedback on the professors (duh!! of course lol) and the courses as well. There's quite a bit of studying and writing involved with both HUN and SYG, STA is math.....you'll either love it or not, and either get it or not. When I took STA there was a lot of work involved; very lengthy assignments, quizzes, etc. If you're focused ( you seem as you are) you should do fine in all classes so long as you put in the time necessary. I'm very excited for you!! During my spring semester I took the EMT-B course, and am now certified. Many fire stations allow ride alongs, you just need to sign a waiver, and you get to experience health care up close and personal. It's thrilling and fast paced; I loved it!! You can learn a lot of the basics and if you prove yourself to be an interested participant, I'm sure they may even allow you a little hands on practice!

Hey Faith, HUN1201 and SYG2000 come to mind immediately; you'll need these for sure. You may also need to take a math class besides STA, MTG2204 or QMB2100. We all have different electives and such so just touch base with an advisor at Medical. Good luck!!

yisi4u, I also took it twice and ended up with an 82 and have a 4.0 GPA. I got accepted to all 3 in fall (I chose the generic) so you should definitely not worry about getting in with your scores! See you in Jan!! Woohoo

Here's the link https://sisvsr.mdc.edu/ce/showsched.aspx?catID=B1A&allcampus=on
Scroll down in the center (where it says CAREER CERTIFICATES) to CPR-BLS and it gives you different dates, campuses, etc. :)
