Hey Faith, HUN1201 and SYG2000 come to mind immediately; you'll need these for sure. You may also need to take a math class besides STA, MTG2204 or QMB2100. We all have different electives and such so just touch base with an advisor at Medical. Good luck!!

MDC Fall 2011 =)
Yisy4u, that is more than enough to get you in for sure!! Make sure to check out rate my professor and get some feedback on the professors (duh!! of course lol) and the courses as well. There's quite a bit of studying and writing involved with both HUN and SYG, STA is math.....you'll either love it or not, and either get it or not. When I took STA there was a lot of work involved; very lengthy assignments, quizzes, etc. If you're focused ( you seem as you are) you should do fine in all classes so long as you put in the time necessary. I'm very excited for you!! During my spring semester I took the EMT-B course, and am now certified. Many fire stations allow ride alongs, you just need to sign a waiver, and you get to experience health care up close and personal. It's thrilling and fast paced; I loved it!! You can learn a lot of the basics and if you prove yourself to be an interested participant, I'm sure they may even allow you a little hands on practice!

MDC Fall 2011 =)
For those that have gotten in, I'm planning on purchasing a few books to get started (as suggested by nurse nacole on youtube): Clinical calculations, fundamentals of nursing, and a nursing diagnosis handbook. Please let me know if any of you are planning on getting any of these so that we may possibly get the same ones, and study together!

MDC Fall 2011 =)
Hey Bllanes, Amazing GPA.....well you're perfect!! If by the oddest, smallest, unlikeliest chance you're not accepted into the program, it gives you the opportunity to take additional BA classes in the fall and retake the TEAS test. Aim to get your score into the 80's. The TEAS score is worth 60% so that gives a slight advantage to those with better scores and a less than perfect GPA. If anything your entry has just been delayed not denied so to speak. Don't have your fall term go to waste, ie don't take it as a vacation. Forge ahead and complete classes you'll need anyway for your degree. Best of luck!

MDC Fall 2011 =)
Hi Yisy4u, definitely take classes toward your BA! If you completed an AA, you're more than halfway there. Take HUN1201, SYG2000, I believe you'll need an additional math class besides Sta. Anything you take now, will always benefit you later. If you've only completed an AS then get a move on....you'll need ENC1102, additional humanities and social sciences, Micro lab....do it, don't wait till after the program. My other suggestion is about your TEAS score...if you've scored above an 80, I can say you're safe (considering your GPA is respectable), if lower, you should consider retaking just to cement your chances and assure your efforts don't go to waste. Best of luck!!

MDC Fall 2011 =)
Hey Megfig, Labcorp is terribly expensive. Not sure where you're located but Doctors 365 do the MMR titer for $60--student discount. Generally for Broward students but I gave them a call and they are extending it to Dade as well. Call any of your local clinics, a quick search of the yp, and you can find a bunch that charge considerably less than Labcorp. I did my physical and a 10 panel drug test for $40 in my neighborhood clinic. PPD's should cost you less than $20, anything more and they are seriously overpriced. If you opt for the HEP B vaccine, it should run you about $50 at the (Broward) health dept, other places will run you about $75. Shop around!

MDC Fall 2011 =)
Hi Iemu, I suggest you take them together...you will need it eventually. Of all the lectures and labs, Micro was truly the only one that worked cohesively; they really supplemented one another. I had terrific teachers at North Campus, and enjoyed this class a lot. Not sure what campus you'll be attending but if at North, I suggest Okungbowa for lecture, and Clemente Fernandez for lab. Good luck!

MDC Fall 2011 =)
Hi Pixie, Apparently I haven't replied to a sufficient amount of posts to have email privileges!! The generic full time program will be completed by Fall 2012: 4 semesters, 18 months. As you mentioned, I would love to meet up and personally meet a few of my future classmates, as well as begin a study group so that we may get into the groove of things before classes actually begin. Message me your email so that I may send you my contact info. Congrats on getting in and speak to you soon!
