MDC Fall 2011 =)

Published

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

Its crazy how every person there is on a different page. When I called yesterday I was told that a first batch of accptance emails went out this week and a second batch is going out next week "so dont be surprised to see your name in the pile" That this is how they do it in batches. We'll just have to wait it out! So unless u get a rejection letter there still mayb a chance!!!

Olga wasn't there this afternoon and some other girl in advisement said the cut off score was 85 but that's not true because I got an 82 and got accepted.

Sorry I couldn't give u any new info, mocadell.

Was this supposed to be the TEAS cut off score? or Competitive Cut off score? If it was TEAS I ASSURE that is incorrect LOL Oh Miami Dade..... always giving out conflicting information!!!

Mocadell,

I have a friend who applied to all 3 programs (accelerated, generic full time, & part-time). Initially she leaned toward the accelerated program. But now she is leaning toward the generic full time. So, I'm feeling confident that another part-time slot opens up.

I have the distinct impression that there are enough (a lot in my eyes) of students who applied for all 3 programs... I'm guessing to increase their odds of getting accepted into RN school (at ANY program).

What I'm trying to say is,

I'm a firm believer there will be an adequate number of slots that open up for part-time! I'm betting that once these students pay their $100 application fee and commit to the non-part-time programs, THEN there will be a 2nd wave of notifications that go out to fill those part-time slots. I'd also place my bets that the 2nd wave of acceptance emails, you will see MANY of those students take the slots and pay the $100. I figure the 3rd wave of acceptance emails will be just a handful = not many. But I have heard rumor of one student who got in last year like just before RN school started and it was stressful for her because trying to do all that stuff (background checks, Dr visits, etc) in just a short time.

Just my thoughts. With your TEAS score of 78 and GPA 3.8, I think you are a SERIOUS contender for part-time.

GOOD LUCK!

The minimum TEAS score that was accepted to the RN program was at 80%. There are students who have not yet responded to their acceptance, which means the School of Nursing will begin contacting students in the order that they are ranked to fill those empty slots. We speculate, by July, all applicants will be notified of their status. Therefore, continue to check your MDC email account.

^^^^This is what an advisor told me

RNfem, you guys have been amazing the way you have responded to not only mine but to other emails! I have really never seen a group of people that have never met taking the time to answer and at times calm the nerves of those who are on the verge of having a nervous breakdown! ;)

Thank you again!!!

Wow, that is an excellent price. I am really interested in something like that if MDC requires us to have health insurance. Do you know the name of that specific plan or can you provide a link? Is it the BlueOptions 704 plan? I was looking at their site, but there are so many plans it boggles my mind. Thanks

MDC continuing ed offers a lot of that class: http://goo.gl/QDWpj

I took one on the weekend and they didn't even give us a practical test. Also, on the written test, they gave us the answers. Plus the class ended 2 hours early. Needless to say, I was very happy but kind of shocked too.

i was trying to go on a day other than sat

:o I must know about this! I think I'm going to be without insurance soon or something bc I turn 21 this summer. I think that is how my current plan works, lol. I've heard pretty good stuff from blue cross blue shield. 82 isn't bad!

i went to the bookstore on campus today and looked at the uniforms, shoes, books, supplies... they have a really nice selection of study guides and review books. the shoes they had weren't half bad either.
