MDC Fall 2011 =)

Published

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

If I have insurance. How do I do the drug test ? Where would I go and where do they send the results? Do they hand them to me on a sealed envelope and I just bring them to orientation? I don't get it.

Unless it covered just go to the place that its 35 dollars.

The insurance is 82 but it is not active till the following month. You have to go through i forget i don't know like the audit of your health. Your best bet is to go to miami dade for the 220 plus 60 or go to some where like health department where they do based on your income or a clinic that does it on your income.

But if you can go through auditing and qualify for July first then take it.

Hi, I get the same thing regarding June 24th. It may be only for nursing students. Idk.

My aunt was in the nursing program years ago and she failed a class because she got a 74. I believe that is a D. I think A's are 92.

I don't have HSC0003 either. I asume they will tell us at orientation though, because that was not a requirement to get into the program.

If we register for classes before orientation, does anyone know if this is still the correct list for first semester, generic, full-time? It's the only info I could find on the MDC site but it's dated July 7, 2005:

I have been told all along that we will be able to register on the day of or after orientation, assuming that all of our paperwork is in order. I know that you can not attend classes for the nursing program without being in the program, so I doubt anyone will have issue of 'getting into' a class unless we wait a significant amount of time after orientation.

If you've already been accepted, be concerned with the things we need to do prior to orientation and all the other things after. If you're still waiting on your email, keep yourself busy and the time will pass more quickly.

Good luck to all of us!

Hi:) thanks. Where again was the 35$ place and do I jus tell them it's for the nursing program and they give me sealed envelop to bring w me to orientation?

Do I have to wait a fewdays or is are results given that day?

I used Econolabs for $40. They said they will both email me the results and send in an envelope (otherwise if you don't ask, I think they just email). I haven't gotten anything yet so I don't know how long it takes.

Be careful because Econolabs is like a middle-man and they first told me to go to a Labcorps close to my house. But I found out that Labcorps site doesn't do drug tests. So best to check the Labcorps site before you go: HERE

Ok, so I heard from another friend of mine. She applied to BOTH full-time & part-time. She was only admitted to full-time program. I think I recall her TEAS score being 74 or 76. (Lower than I expected). Not sure of her GPA. I'd be surprised if she is a 4.0. But it was interesting to me that she only got full-time offered to her. She said that getting accepted to part-time is harder (less seats) than full-time.

I regret not applying to both like my sister had advised me to do. The adviser told me that since part time admission only happens once a year it is alot harder and more competitive. I still have hope and am anxiously awaiting for the next Monday to see what happens. People that got accepted have until this Friday to make a decision so.....we'll see. Does anyone know if people take out loans and live off of them while going to school??

Yes, I know an A&P professor who was a Dr. in another country. He did the accelerated RN program at MDC.

He took out loans for the 10 month program for money to live on.

I'm highly confidant that many students take out loans to make it through RN school.

Some work part-time. Some work part-time and take out loans.

When I was applying the adviser didn't tell me that...that's why I applied to the part-time (as a back up) in case I didn't get in to the full-time program. That wasn't a very good back up plan :uhoh3:when it's the most competitive.

As far as student loans, absolutely! I have no help monetarily so I HAVE TO take out loans or I wouldn't be able to go to school. If you qualify for pell grants you might not have to borrow as much...if you do borrow try to only get subsidized loans (so interest won't accrue while you're still in school). :)
