Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?
I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!
I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol
Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat
hi, this is my first post but I finally took some time today to read through all of the post. I still haven't received an e-mail from MDC. I applied for both the full-time and part-time RN programs. Should I start to worry. I think i remember reading that we should be receiving more responses either the 24th or the 30th. Can anyone inform me further about this. My TEAS score was an 80% and i have a GPA of 3.22. please let me know how my chances look. =/ Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Welcome! Tough to say where you rank...there are folks with higher scores here, and those with lower, but as to where you fall...time will tell. There WILL be a second round of emails going out next week, so stay tuned to your email!

Supposedly the "cut off" Teas Score was 80. IDK how MDC calculated this because it seems that people with lower gpas and higher Teas got in over people with good Teas and EXCELLENT GPAs. The next batch of letters are going out after next week, once MDC sees how many people did not reserve their seats. You literally have to keep checking your email because it can come at any time at this point. The Last date for any letter is July 10th. I'm not sure where you fall on the list (my guess not very far considering your TEAS). Keep checking your emails!!! I wish you the best of luck!!! If you like you should've gotten a letter I would suggest emailing or going in to see an advisor as the deadline to accept is THIS FRIDAY. Not trying to scare you but MDC is EXTREMELY disorganized and has cost people to lose a seat because of "misinformation" don't let it happen to you!!! Ask ALOT of quetsions! No such thing as a dumb question. But either way I don't think you are that far off my "Competitive Score" was an 85 (80 TEAS and 3.7+ gpa) So you aren't that far below my scores. Best of luck of you again and to all of those being accepted see you on the other end once we hit the work force :-)
People does anyone knows the course ID for the CPR/BSL class
HRF004. You can search for open sections here: https://sisvsr.mdc.edu/student/openclass/NewSearchM.aspx
It looks like they have open sections at Medical, Kendall, North, Hialeah Center and Homestead :)
Well, here goes...
I went today to the Medical Campus, and declined my spot in the Fulltime Generic Program for this fall.
Due to a family situation, I won't be able to attend nursing school (which is what you HAVE to dedicate) until this coming spring. So, I'll be reapplying for the Spring 2012 semester, and God willing, I will be accepted again and be able to start at that time.
So as much as it KILLED me to decline my spot, I am happy that one more person will be able to participate in the program this fall. I honestly hope it's one of you!!!
I also am very happy to that so many here have gotten in, and that the rest of us will have some eyes and ears going into the program!
I guess it's up to me to get the "MDC Spring 2012" thread going, right?

I really respect your decision to decline your spot and wish a quick resolve to your family situation. Nursing school is definitely a full time responsibility, I'm positive you'll be able to get in without any problem next semester. :)
ZeppHead8 I'll be applying to the Spring 12 program as well. It will be nice to have a thread for the ones applying then. :)
Shamanai: I know someone who got in with a 78.8 Teas score, so the Teas cut off couldn't have been 80. Maybe that was the score of the teas & gpa together, but who knows?

Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better

I'm sure I will need to read it many times to help me THROUGH the RN program.
Be Well,

These 22 reasons were really great. It's exactly what people need to remember, i actually feel like printing it and putting it up somewhere because i feel a lot better being reminded of the possibility and the greatness that comes with hard work and never giving up. Thank you Fem for this link.
and remember if you don't get in this year just keeping trying til you accomplish your goal and in the meantime why not take classes that can benefit you and your future career? or even towards your bachelors? maybe consider volunteering at a hospital or do a techincal program to get your taste of the pace and enviroment involved with health?
If i dont get in i plan (for the meantime as i wait to apply again next year) on taking classes that can count towards my bachelors (if possible) if i can't do that then i might consider looking into programs that you could become a LPN, paramedic, or even an EMT in a year or less. That way i'm still learning, and that info will be relevant, and i get my foot in the door and can gain some experience in intense situation and how to deal with patients.
Think of all your options, and make it happen.
If any of you are interested in programs like that i have no problem sharing the ones i came across.
Good luck to all of us waiting and congratulations to all who got accepted!
