Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?
I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!
I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol
Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat
Sorry to post another question here, but I don't want to make Advising mad and I would rather find out from other students anyways. Has anyone found out if the drug screening can be unsealed?
Step 5.b in the requirements list says that the results must be in a sealed envelope:
... but the student health form from step 4 requires the results to be signed off by a physician, NP, or PA. But how can they sign off and attach the form if I give them a sealed envelope from one of the labs listed in the link given by MDC?
I am very confused now!!! Someone posted here that they didnt receive the email because MDC had their email wrong, so my confusion is: they will send the email thru my mdc email right??? So, chances are that the email is right, I just didn't receive my email yet!!!
From ZeppHead8's comments, it sounds like s(he) isn't sure whose end the typo came from. From their scenario, it seems like they would have never found out except that they went in and supplied the correct email. This is just a suggestion, but maybe if you call or go in and pretend that you know for sure you made a typo on your own end (because you saved a copy of the form or something) and you want to give them the correct email address. Possibly that would prompt them to double check and tell you what the system shows rather than waiting.
Hi guys! I hope all is going well...quick question..of those of you who got accepted, did any of you apply for a part time position that you will not be accepting?? I know Dea089 said that she will not be accepting part time because she got into the full time program that she wanted..just wanted to get an idea of where I stand..THANKS!!! :)
Olga wasn't there this afternoon and some other girl in advisement said the cut off score was 85 but that's not true because I got an 82 and got accepted.Sorry I couldn't give u any new info, mocadell.
Thank you Dea089 for trying to get any info..I hope your friend gets an email soon too!!

I also went to the nursing department and the girl in front said what I had (unsealed) should be fine but then the lady who actually does the forms (she didn't give me her name) saw my faxed copy from the lab to my doctor and said that would not be acceptable and that the lab needs to send her the original in a sealed envelope and give that to me to turn in. It makes no sense to me either but I'm going to try to get it done...if that doesn't work I guess I'll have to go to one of those clinics and take another drug test...I'm running out of money :smackingf
zepphead, congrats!!!!!!
marah, we totally have to form a study group. i'm so ininin. :)
i got my background check today. i went to the place in coral gables. it was kind of full!
my doctor is on vacation until the 20th--i am so anxious, i think i am just going to show up and speak to his assistant. i just want to know if my insurance will cover all this stuff. :|
I want to apologize for some of my questions. I think I might be creating unnecessary stress for myself and maybe others too. I've come to the conclusion that the process MDC set forth is not totally clear cut - especially if you start analyzing it too much. It seems to depend on which advisor you speak to, who answers the phone, and other random factors. I have a feeling that when we submit all this stuff at the orientation, that's the only day we will really find out where we stand. So I'm just going to try and get the 8 steps done however it works out and face the consequences on July 18.

Does anyone know if we have to create a new ATI account for the orientation, or can we just use the same one we used for the TEAS? I found it confusing because everyone would already have an ATI account from taking the TEAS, yet the requirements list says:
If you go to the URL they list in the above, the ATI page looks totally different than if you go directly to the generic ATI home page.

Also, a tip when you go to pay your $100 application fee. I figured if I allotted 15min during my lunch break to turn in the form, no problem. Boy was I wrong. I waited in line at the bursar's office; when I got to the window they said I had to go to the Advising office first and fill out another form to turn in the first form (so just go to advising first to get the green form). Then after I waited in line again at the bursar's, I went back to advising to turn everything in. There were quite a few people waiting and the gentleman said I couldn't turn in the forms until I saw an advisor first.
Long story short, I had to leave and go back to my job and return to MDC that evening. I waited again for about 30 minutes and then they called me up and said "you don't need to see an advisor, just turn in the form." Despite almost going insane, I must say the very last lady I dealt with at the front desk was extremely nice, very informative, and it wasn't her fault. I don't know her name, but she has answered a lot of my questions before and is VERY patient and helpful.
