MDC Fall 2011 =)

Published

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

Hi Everyone, I took the TEAS today (it was also my 2nd time) and got 82 but after reading everyones scores I'm pretty worried! I applied to generic and accelerated hoping I'll get in to one of them. I can't believe we have to wait 2 more months! Oh and I'm only applying to MDC like a few of you, it's my only option at this point.

Hey I'm new to this

but n e who. I, too, am appling or have applied to the Gen. RN(ft) and LPN program. RN is my first choice and LPN is just for back up. I was told, by an adv., that 120-180 are accepted to the RN program and that letters may go out in late July- mid August. She said the process of picking the students will happened in late June even though our apps were due in early May.

P.S for all the ppl that got teas scores in the 80's and a 3.5 GPA and up, I think ya'll are def. in because the avg of the others scores for the program is in the 60s-70s. I, too, scored in the 70s>>74.7. And three other people I took the teas with had the same score and others were less or a point or two higher than mine. Also our GPA were not far from one another. I have a 3.2.....my total score 76.82. According to my result, my score was way higher than the avg score of the program, so thats the main reason I went on with applling...hope I'll be one of the 120-180 to get in.

I hope this help and lessen the stress for the ones who have question about how many can get in and the avg score

Wow they said letters would go out late july or mid august?! that seems really late to be able to get all the paperwork done when classes start the end of august...i was told letters would be sent between mid-june and early july when I turned in my app a few weeks ago =(...maybe they have gotten more people applying this year...I hope not =/....

Marah, I heard the same thing you did...

Early August does seem really late. That would barely give folks who are quitting work enough time to give 2 weeks notice!

Doesn't the program start in August?? So how can the letters go out in August? Also, you need time for all of the paperwork they require. Yesterday I was told to expect a letter toward the end of June. My combined score is an 85. What do you all think about that??

I think an 85 is a good competitive score! Good Luck!=) I can't wait till they send out letters...I really hope it is not gonna be in August =(

Hi Marah! Thanks for your quick reply! I hope my 85 is ggod enough to get in..I am sooo nervous!!! Would you happen to know if the part-time program is very competitive when compared to the other programs??

I am sorry I don't know anything about part-time. I am applying to generic full time so that is what I have asked about...=)

It's 4.0

And yesterday when I turned in my appl the advisor said letters would be going out end of June-early July; she didn't say anything about august. I wonder how many people are applying...i hope it's not thousands :smackingf

Thousands are sure to apply...I would bet money on 2000.

However, adding another component to the selection process would, I think make things quicker and easier. When they did it by GPA, there had to be some sort of criteria on which they made a decision between people who were right on the bubble but had the same exact GPA.

Now they will be coming up with a final score for each student based on TEAS+GPA, and there will be a list with a cutoff number, and I imagine less people with the exact same score.

Hopefully it streamlines the process and gets letters sent out quicker...hopefully 80)

I sure hope so! I'm taking the HSC0003 course over summer, I know it's not required yet but since it will be next year I thought it would be a good idea to take it now...just in case. I'm taking it wednesday nights at the medical campus. Is anyone else taking it this summer too?
