MDC Fall 2019 Nursing

Published

Hello fellow students! I wanted to create a topic for those who are planning on starting the MDC Nursing program in the Fall of 2019. It's never too early to be well prepared. LOL. I have a B.A. and was able to get some of my credits transferred to the A.S. I read through the thread for the Fall of 2018 class and the Spring of 2019 class. Both threads have some very useful information regarding how to study for the HESI, scores needed to get into the program, etc. and many people from those groups keep in touch in Facebook and via Whatsapp. I'm looking for a support/study group for those that are in the same timeline as I am. Just starting BSC2086 A&P 2/lab and MGF1106 next week at Kendall/Homestead campuses. Also, looking for P/T work at Baptist Hospital or MDC. I am anticipating taking Microbiology and the Intro to Healthcare in the Spring '19, along with the HESI. Hope to meet some great people on here!

I found the biology questions to be very detailed about the cell and the skin/tissues. Know more than just the parts of the cell and the basic functions. Make sure you really know how everything works.

Thanks! Sounds like I'm in great shape then. :D

In my opinion, any score over 85% is a great score, especially if your science GPA is high. I hope to get close to 90%. If I don't, I'll be taking it again. Not sure exactly when I'll take it. I've decided to wait for Spring and take the BSN pre-req's while I'm at it (Nutrition and Statistics). I'll be able to apply to several schools and hope to have a chance for a scholarship. I'm also looking for part-time work.

This is definitely a great route to take.

Hi guys! this would be my first time applying. i am extremely nervous about the Hesi My overall science gpa is a 3.12 any pointers on what to study for in the Hesi? i consider myself a weak test taker and honestly that seems to be stressing me out the most! thank you in advance.

Elsevier is the company that provides the test bank. They have a review book called Hesi Admission Assesment 4th edition. That book would be a good starting point. Theres a few other review books out there that you can find at any bookstore or Amazon. You can also use an app called Pocket Prep. It has over 1500 questions similar to what you'll see in the exam. Your school notes would also be a solid help. Especially for the Anatomy, Bio, and Chem.

Thank you so much Manny ?

Hello everyone

I think I’m starting to drive myself crazy with overthinking. My overall science GPA is a 3.14 and I made a 72.57 on my Hesi exam. Well I guess my question is do I have a chance of getting into the program . I applied for both the Full-time and Part time generic program and I’m a bit nervous because my Hesi score is low and I know it’s worth 60% and the GPA is worth 40%. I have 2 back up schools one being Nova and the other is Chamberlain . Thoughts ???

How many times have you attempted the Hesi? If youre not comfortable with your score you can always try it again before the Deadline. You get 3 attempts

Hello Manny

This was my last attempt at taking it, so I don’t really know how to feel. I’m trying to stay positive but I’m not sure . ?.

Aww thank you so much that makes me feel better, I’m shooting for the part time but I applied to both and my fingers are crossed.

Good to know. What campus is she in? It really depends on how many applicants there are. So yeah, positive is the way to go!
