Hello fellow students! I wanted to create a topic for those who are planning on starting the MDC Nursing program in the Fall of 2019. It's never too early to be well prepared. LOL. I have a B.A. and was able to get some of my credits transferred to the A.S. I read through the thread for the Fall of 2018 class and the Spring of 2019 class. Both threads have some very useful information regarding how to study for the HESI, scores needed to get into the program, etc. and many people from those groups keep in touch in Facebook and via Whatsapp. I'm looking for a support/study group for those that are in the same timeline as I am. Just starting BSC2086 A&P 2/lab and MGF1106 next week at Kendall/Homestead campuses. Also, looking for P/T work at Baptist Hospital or MDC. I am anticipating taking Microbiology and the Intro to Healthcare in the Spring '19, along with the HESI. Hope to meet some great people on here!

Hi LisP9,
May I ask why you are dropping out? Was it a personal reason or issues with the program?
Grisso, it was for personal reasons, after some time going to clinicals i learned nursing wasnt for me. To work 12 hour shifts as you do in nursing is alot of time from your life and if its something you dont like and are not passionate about you become burnout and unhappy. Although its a career that pays well its not a good enough reason for me to pursue

Hello LisP9
I wanted to know is there any advice you can give new nursing students that’s going to start in August, maybe what to expect the first and second semester?, or do and donts in nursing school ? What campus did you attend and what program where u in Full time, Part time or accelerated ?
Beautifulflower91, well my advice is to learn how to time manage, study every day 2 to 4 hours, read the chapter from the books or the powerpoints before the day of the lecture (no need to fully understand the content its just so that you get acquainted with the topics), learn how to study nursing school content (its very different from other subjects, an example of this is how for exams you are given scenario questions and thus you have to apply critical thinking to answer), take care of yourselves (you cant help others if you cant help yourself), and enjoy your journey to become a nurse?
This is just my opinion, it might not be for eveyone
Not sure if anyone would know the answer to this but here it goes... Are you allowed to apply for the fall if HSC003 is the only pre-requisite left and you plan on taking it during the summer? Just decided to apply to MDC and this is the only pre-requisite I don't have. I'd be applying to the Accelerated option.

I just got this delivered today. Got it at a great price on E-bay. It looks pretty good! Can't wait to get started. I'll be working on it between class exams. LOL. Things are starting to get crazy. I have exams every week for Microbiology and I'm starting an 8-week Intro to Health Care/lab mini course. The classes are not hard but the schedule is tight. I'm also doing the free apps. Pocket Prep is one of them.
