Hello everyone!
I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.
You said you had a 3.35 GPA and a 89 on the Hesi and u still got in being the 12th on the list? This gives me hope....I have yet to take the Hesi but I am worried about my GPA being to low. I still have to take anatomy and will be taking the Hesi in January. Any tips for studying for the test??

I believe the girl who was 12th alternate last year had those scores. I am 12th this year and had 3.57 gpa and 84 hesi. HESI is just veryyyy long, took me about two hours but you get four hours. Math and reading comprehension were easiest for me, i didn't have to study for those two but the HESI prep book from the bookstore does go into great detail for both. I got A's in both of those areas. Grammar is honestly what killed my score as dumb as that sounds. I did that part last and i was tired and had a headache, i kinda just breezed through it and it messed me up. I still regret it. I should have spent more time studying it. I finished A&P one month prior to taking my HESI so it was still pretty fresh in my mind but i did still use the book to study for it. It was pretty general stuff. I believe i scored around an 86 in that section. Again, the reason my HESI is so low is mainly because of the grammar section so my advice is to just take your time and don't rush. Definitely get the prep book from the bookstore (around $30) too. If you get a really high HESI score your low gpa should be fine!! Good luck!!
Ok I am official now!! I just paid my $100 Reservation Fee... FYI (to save you from my mistake) if you pay in person at the Cashier's Office they ONLY take Cash or Check NO Credit/Debit cards :/ I ended up having to walk all the way over to C building to get money out of the ATM.. I know the letter states: "Check or Money Order" but I thought that was just if you were mailing it in...also wanted to let you know that I went to Enrollment to see about getting my rank and they said that they no longer will give that out due to all of the "cat fights" breaking out last year..that seems so funny and immature to me.. but the reason most likely due to the volume of calls they received on why this person or that person ranked higher...my theory is they initially use your composite score to see if you are eligible for ranking and then they take that plus if you have ALL of your Prerequisites and Corequisites complete along with grade trends for those classes to fill seats or break ties...but that is just a theory so who knows...
