MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

Found the thread lol so as I was saying I havent taken then HESI yet so im kind of nervous

Im Maria, btw :)

I haven't either! My paperwork says that registration for the Hesi for this cycle starts July 23rd so that's when I am going to register. I think I'm going to select a late December or early Jan test date.

do you have prerequisites left? I was surprised that MCC only required 4.

hi guys this is my second time applying for the program i originally wanted to apply in 2015 and take the hesi for practice this past january but i got a 82% on the hesi first shot and i had an ok g.p.a of 3.47 so i drcided i mine as well try this year i did not make it this year but i am super excite for 2015 .... i have completed patho micro biology english anp intro to nursing and other coursed for the adn such as psch nutrition this fall i am going to b taking english 1210 (i think u can apply with either 1180 or 1210 only got a b in 1180 so im gona try 1210 and pray i get a A im also gona take a Phed course a philosopy class and a class towards my BSN (im not crazy i must take 13new credits to keep receiving my aid ) lol any questions u would like me to answer just let me know ...my grades were b+ in anp (took it over the summer ) A+in pathomicrobiology A+in intro to nursing and b in english 82hesi and 3.47 gpa ranked 233 out of 342 rankees

Oh and btw get the hesi book NOW this is just a tip for people who have not had anp in a while or are just forgetful like myself lol... the book is great !!! all the skills in the book will be on the test !! If u study the book therally u will do great . The only subject the book does not cover good is anp please i repeat please dont ONLY study the book for anp use other sources notes lab books online sources ex. but if u are theral when studying the book for every other subject i rrcomend take atleast 2months for studying u should do gud in all other subjects and should have enough points from those subjects too afford to miss half or most of anp lol its only 25 #anp questions on the test as well ... hope this gives u a little structure when studying ... if i had not spent 80%of my study time on anp i would had been able to do extremely well in the other subjects and probalky would had got well in the 90% anp on the test is like trivia questions if u luck up and get questions on parts of the body u know great if not then u are s.o.l got 40% on anp but still was able to get 82% on my test .... try to get the latest test date to allow yourself more study time

Thank you so much for giving us all the info. Im really nervous about the vocab part of hesi because I feel like its going to have words I have never seen before. Also the math part. People told me that the division and multiply signs are taken off the calculator provided for us. Is that true? Thank you in advance.

Hi Deanna!

Thanks for the info! I am definitely going to get the Hesi prep book ASAP. I am waiting on financial aid as well so I feel your pain. It's good to know that you can do well in the summer A&P course. I'm taking it starting in July for the six week "speed course" as I call it lol. I am going to buy the book as soon as possible and start reading and looking over it next month though. Hopefully pre-reading will help!

We should start a study group for the Hesi! Maybe reviewing like once a week during the summer/fall would be helpful.

Who are you taking a&p with?

Hi guys mperczi dont worry i am horrible in all aspects of english i taught my self highschool and i dont have a superb vocabulary i speak very ghetto lol but i studied the vocab section in the book memorizex apl the words in the book and i got a 89% in vocab i would say 60-70% of the words on my test came from the book the rest i was able to use context clues to figure out .... just choose the best answer .... again i did not go to any fancy high school all my knowledge was self taught ..... the book is great practice for all sections except anp :-)

Hi at GiveMeThecofee ... yesss summer anp is possible i would had got a A+ in anp butt i had a seizure the day of my 3rd lab and missed those 100 points on my grade and once the lab was torn down there was no way to make it up ...:-( but id u are devoted and study hard u will get that A DONT GET ME WRONG IT IS ALOT IN 6WEEKS BUT IF U WANT IT U WILL DO IT .... wat are your gradez in your other pre requs if u dont mind me asking .....n btw guys i have came to notice u will likely get in if u get a 3.65 and a 86 or higher on your hesi ..... so try to keep gpa and hesi there ...

Yes i think if we review once a week starting end of august begining september we will do great to be honest i started studying 2-3 weeks before my test date (oops) lol but i still was able to get a 82% me weakest scores were anp and grammer lol ( i didnt study any grammer at all lol ) but it was dea on to what i seen in the book .... the math was dead on to what the book had in it you wont get any problems besides the type thats in the book .... for math defintley know how to solve your percentages and know your conversions
