MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

You aren't "certified" but you do qualify for those jobs.

I have learned so much from working as a patient care tech and actually have a lot of nurses consult me regarding patient issues, granted I've been in this position for almost 10 years. I think it's going to be very beneficial to me once I am in the program. I highly suggest getting a job as a p.c.t., n.a. etc. ASAP.

Most hospitals won't hire you unless you have extensive prior working history or a certification, I'm not sure how the certification process works but I think that there's some reasonably priced programs but I wouldn't suggest spending a lot of time or money.

Absolutly do not spend any money getting certified. There has not been a single person in my program that did not get a job after applying for a couple of weeks. I would say about 20/36 people in my program have either Nurse tech or pct/NA jobs, and the rest don't have them because they dont want them.

Has anyone found out how many applicants there were for this cycle? Im getting so nervous:nailbiting:

What they said after the nursing fundamentals are complete you will be able to get a job have a highschool friend who was highered on the spot after completing the fundamentals courses just last week ... And the only work experience she had before that was as an exotic dancer lol hope that brightens your day :-)

Hey guys, it's so crazy to think that we all just took the HESI over 2 months ago. We have a little over a month to find out our status relating to the program. :nailbiting: I was doing a good job to put it in the back of my head these past couple months, but the anticipation has been creeping up on me lately :dead:

Yeah I actually just recently had a dream about it. I dreamt that I got denied! Ugh this next month needs to go by quickly. Although, I must say the last 2 have gone by pretty fast.

These past couple of months went by so quickly! I feel like I just recently took the HESI! lol Hopefully the next few weeks fly by..

Hi. :) Does anybody know of someone in the program that could shed some light on the pros/cons of starting one semester (Aug/Oct/Jan/March) vs. another?

Hopefully there is less applicant's and they are able to process the applications sooner than they have in the last couple years!

I have put so much of myself into this and devoted so much of my life to getting accepted in this program, I really hope the 3rd time is the charm!

I'm really hoping that new programs like Breckenridge and South University thin out the competition this year!

@cominupdaisies. Besides the obvious of the sooner you start the sooner you graduate, there are downfalls of starting in October or march. I know some people that had trouble with their financial aide because then it was less than the required credits for the semester.

That makes sense. Thanks!
