Hello everyone!
I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.
Sweetp3a,
That really is a subjective question because we all have strengths and weaknesses. I had to reflect on this question a bit.
If you got that MCC acceptance letter in your hand after tackling the mailman/woman, YOU BELONG THERE! Nursing school will take you on a awesome journey. Once you've signed on there's no turning back, remember that! You will bust your a$$ to do your best because you don't have a choice.
I do not know 1 person that thinks it is "easy" but I can tell you there are 36 that think it's one heck of a challenge. On days when I'm trying to balance my family, home, studying, working, it is very hard (almost panic worthy), but I have to remind myself that I asked for this. No complaining allowed! Time management is what makes it hard, not the material. You get out of it what you put in.
My recommendation to those of you that are waiting to get in. Look at bridging programs to get your bachelors degree. Start working on prereq's, get them done! You will not regret it. I do not have mine done yet
K, I need to go read my Infectious Respiratory Problems chapter. Whoot whoot!
I meant u will get in without being on the alternatives u will make the 160 maybe Jan or march start but your gonna make it ... Im the one hoping I make it sum how to the alternatives lol ... BTW guys if you are looking for employment while in the nursing program sign up for work study u can make any where from min wage to 16$ a hr depending on what classes u have took and the best part about it is you can pick your own hours based on classes for instances I have Tues n Thurs classes and my boss allowed me to. Come in Mon wed Fri if I need to make a day up if I miss I can as long as its in the week. .. Its really a good opportunity for students I hope this helps someone out :-)
How does everyone feel about me wanting to go into nursing although i have no work experience in the medical field? I make pretty good money where i am at now, (cake decorater @ costco), and plan on staying here through nursing school because of the schedule flexibility and money. I feel like the only downside to this is that when i finish school i will have no medical field experience which will make it harder for me to find a job. I know alot of nursing students work in doctors offices, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. Just want to see what everyone else's two cents are about this.
Quick question....what is the passing grade in the program? An advisor once told me that you need to maintain a "C" but I heard someone say you need to get an 83% or above in each class. I've always worked hard for As in all of my previous classes but i was wondering what the passing percent is for nursing classes... thanks!
You'll get medical field experience THROUGH nursing school that's the point 😂. I had never stepped foot in a hospital before nursing school.[/quote']Lol well i know i'll get experience through nursing school, that's obvious, but i feel like people who have additional medical experience have an advantage over those who don't.

@giggy2 Thank you so much for your response! I know there is still a longgg time til we find out who gets in BUT I still find myself thinking about the program! I've heard great things about it. I love how you said they own you haha and I also agree with your way of thinking...basically do whatever is required to succeed in the program. Glad you're loving it so far! Thanks for the wishes and I also wish everyone else luck too! We all want this badly!
