Hello everyone!
I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.
Hey has anyone gotten a letter stating their GPA and HESI score they are applying with? Last year I remember I got a letter saying what GPA and HESI they had one file but I haven't gotten one this year. All I got was a letter saying that received my app and stuff. I just want to know that they have the right GPA and HESI!! ....Merry Valentine's day everybody
Hi @sam89o..I would definitely contact the Nursing Dept tommorow and explain to them what happened and verify that they have received your application and that everything is complete...plus make sure they have the correct address on file...Hope everything works out and I wish you all the best!!
Does anyone know what the nursing program schedule is like? Like how many days a week do you go and if classes are early morning or afternoon? I was just wondering how it's set up lol
I am currently in the 2nd semester. The classes are posted under registration so you can look at the times available to get an idea. It can certainly be difficult to decipher though. Some classes are only 4 wks so they are very fast paced.
Typically we are in class 2 days per week and have clinicals 1-2 days per week depending on where you are in the program. Clinicals are in groups of 8 people and can be on days or afternoon shift at hospital, no midnights. It's pretty much a M-Th schedule, but we do have 1 group that is scheduled for Fri afternoon shift coming up for psych rotation.
MCC will make your class and clinical rotation schedule (glad I don't have that job), and unless you have a "valid" reason, class schedules are not negotiated.
I just make sure I'm where I'm supposed to be, when I'm supposed to be there, and do what I'm supposed to do when I'm supposed to do it. They own me.
My instructors and classmates are amazing and I'm learning soooo much. I love the program!
Best wishes to you!
Sounds great! How difficult would you rate the program?

Most of the program my schedule has been Monday Thursday lecture for 3-6 hours depending on what part of the program you are in and clinical on Tuesday Wednesday. I've had morning and night classes/clinicals. It changes every 4weeks for lecture and 8 weeks for clinical. There has been one or two instances of a Friday clinical.
As the above stated, they own you!

Yes. I had to order mine from Ferris and I went there 20 years ago.
