MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

Baylie, how do you like the program? You should be done soon if I remember correctly?

The program is great. You would be surprised how fast it goes! I'll be done May 13th 😊😊😊

Hello everyone, new to this site. Unfortunately I'll be suffering from the major anxieties of this waiting game until May till we know our ranks but figured I'd talk with you guys to help pass up the time. This is literally the 4th time I'm reapplying for the nursing program and it has been a battle. However this year I'll be going into the ranking with a GPA of a 3.70 and a HESI score of 84%. I was so disappointed in myself and now I'm continuously kicking myself since I'm literally right at the borderline of getting accepted this year. Every time I apply I lose confidence in myself every year and wait for the disappointing letter of only making it as an alternate student (I can't remember what my ranking was). However, I did speak to a counselor today and he mentioned that this year there wasn't as many people who signed up for the HESI test; so possibly less people are applying this year *fingers crossed*

Were all very anxious, good luck to you!

Thank you for all of your help, it is so nice to hear from someone in the program.

So awesome to hear someone who actually enjoys nursing school! How difficult would you rate the curriculum?

Hey bailey I've followed your post on here for a WHILE lol I have a question its something I wondered since startinv my pre requs after u finish do they have a graduation at macomb ? Or just like u get your credentials n the mail? I would really like a graduation. If I ever make it threw lol

I THINK IVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS THREAD FOR 3YRS I MUST SAY THIS YR MOST POSTERS HAVE HAD LOWER THEN AVERAge scores but this depends on everyone else Cuz its only about 20of us this makes me optamistic that I'll be one of the top 10alternates... I want it bad guys ... I hope I have a shot

The material in the program is not hard. What makes the program difficult is the time constraints. The classes are 4week classes, so it's usually an exam every week. Adding it in with working and you don't have any extra time at all. The good thing about this is it makes it go by fast!

And Deanna the nursing program graduates with everyone else. So if you graduate in March or May you walk at south campus in the May commencement and if you graduate in October or December you walk at center campus in December commencement.

Hello Everyone!!!

I am new to this board but have been reading through the 2014 and 2015 threads over this past weekend. I just wanted to say thank you so much for being so open and genuine about your feelings and scores. I am anxious, excited and feeling a bit helpless as I await my fate. And so it begins.... that long dreaded wait for letters to start appearing over the course of the next 15 weeks . I'm sure you are curious to see my scores. So here it goes....I took my HESI on Jan 6th and scored a 90.4 (I know the .4 will be dropped but somehow it just makes me feel better to see it) I went to the counselor today to verify my total GPA because I transferred two of the four classes from another institution. So my total GPA for the 4 pre-req classes is a 3.62 (it ended up being lower than I initially expected. So with a HESI score of 90 and a GPA of 3.62 my overall cumulative percent average came out to be a 90.5% . Hopefully they will round my total up to 91% but we shall see. My Counselor did say that I am right there in the pocket, so if class trends remain the same as they have over the last few years I have a great shot of getting in (Of course there is NO guarantee). I wish everyone the best in this endeavor and look forward to the weeks ahead, reading your posts and seeing that everyone on this board got into the program!!!

Hello, My name is Amy. I'm applying to the nursing program this year abd don't think I have a chance. I got an 80.8% on the hesi with grades as follows: a&p: B+

English: a-

Micro: a-

Intro to nursing: a

I think I'm going to go for respiratory therapy. I probably have no shot there but figured I'd give it a shot .

Hello @ORbunny, you definitely should be OK with a 90% on the HESI. Since it seems that our rankings are based most favorutively on our HESI score overall. Unfortunately we won't know till May :( I just hope this year works in our favor
