Hello everyone!
I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.
Well I guess the good thing about those statistics is that my scores fall right into the average. I think whats gonna help us all this year is that everyones hesis were extremely low. The hesi class averages used to be around 86-88% in the past years, now the norm is 80 or 81. Sweetp3a, do you know of any other scores or gpas applying this year?
Reading those averages make me nervous. Most people on here seem to have scored in the 80's but also have a higher gpa. It makes me even more nervous that there are probably 300-350 people applying and only 10-15 people have posted their scores on here. Who knows how good/bad the rest of the applicants did. I hope these months fly by!!
Hi, I am Jules, I posted earlier but not recently. So I went to a counselor before filing the application for the program and here is my scores. GPA 3.39 and 90 HESI. I know my GPA is low but my HESI should make up for it. I wish everyone the best, looking forward to the program. So excited!!!!
Kind of a random question but does anyone know how much the program costs? Lol i pay out of pocket for everything so i'm trying to prepare myself.
Sorry didn't figure it out completely but regular tuition per credit hour (I believe), cost for books (depending where you get them, new, used, from another student), cost for supplies (scrubs, nurse pack, stethoscope, etc.). Books can range from used at around $400-900, new close to $1500-1800, equipment a few hundred probably. From what I have seen this might give you a general idea. Hopefully I am right.
Tuition is 92/credit hour. The program ranges from 10.5-11.5 credits per semester. The clinical each semester costs 150 more like a lab class. The first semester books cost a lot, about 1,000 if you buy them new; but then you use the books throughout the entire program so you don't have to purchase books except for in psych and OB and peds.
It's actually extremely cheaper than I thought it would be

I spoke to a counselor not too long ago and he gave me the statistics of the past couple years that included the bottom 5 scores of the HESI and GPA of students who got accepted.
2014- 84 HESI, 3.68 GPA (I think he said around 342 got ranked for this past year)
2013- 87.2 HESI, 3.52 GPA
2012- 87.8 HESI, 3.44 GPA
2011- 83.8 HESI, 3.89 GPA
2010- 88.2 HESI, 3.58 GPA
average of all combined: 86.2 HESI, 3.62 GPA
It clearly varies from year to year, but this still makes me so nervous í ½í¸£
