Hello everyone!
I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.
At least I can say my composite score did go up, even though it's only a couple of points but I just can't help to stress over the fact that I'll be rejected again this year. It's very heart breaking to get that letter that has the bad news regardless of how hard you've worked for this. This being my 4th time applying just makes me feel like such a failure. But I am trying to stay POSITIVE, and hope everyone will get in. I know I want this just like everyone else and it would put so much weight off my shoulders to get that letter of congratulations
Keep up the inspiration and try to stay positive I know it's hard but it looks like you really are dedicated and have the passion to become a great Nurse...if only that was one of the requirements... I have met some real pieces of work in my time who only got into Nursing because they THOUGHT it was a lucrative career and didn't realize you actually have to work...
Absolutely :) Looking at last years posts and Sweetp3a post on page 41 of this thread it looks like the Bottom 5 people last year who were ranked had an 86 overall average. So many variables here but it could mean some relatively lower Composites combined with a few higher ones. So yes I think you have a good chance and Thanks Sweetp3a for posting those!
Ok so if I am doing it correctly I am getting a total Composite Percentile for you of 88.25 this year and an 86.75 from last years if that helps... it's essentially the same as 87.6 which you got and that rounds up to an 88 but it seems more encouraging to see it as 88.25 hope that helps Your welcome Hope we get to meet also!!
We all have to have faith!! Like some previous posts stated, there were fewer students who've taken the HESI this year and the average score of the HESI has gone down within the past couple of years. It's so hard to stay positive but there's a plan for everyone in life. Everything happens for a reason... if it's meant to be, it will happen.

Thanks Rach_Mel90 for the positive vibes. I hope it all works out in our favor. If I get in and get to start in January or March I will be just grateful I got accepted. I don't know why we always get so down on ourselves but we should be proud. The competition is fierce and we all work so hard and our grades reflect that we are way above average for other college students so we are by no means failures.
Ok so regarding our averages I did read on the 2014 threads that someone ranked 140 with a 3.3 GPA and 90 HESI which works out to be an overall composite of 86.25% (actually more like 86% since .25 is rounded down) and that is before the alternate list and the first 5 (more like 10) usually always get in...The supposed Formula used for ranking is your GPA X 25 divided by 2 plus HESI Score divided by 2 for a total composite Percentile.
Wishing you the best!! Happy waiting!!!
