MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

But they do round up. So an 90.5 would be a 91 but a 90.4 would be a 90. It made me mad also but I got over it lol

After you apply you will get a paper in the mail showing your EXACT GPA. For example 3.4567 and then your HESI

Thank you for replying. I'm really scared, 3.61 and 87 HESI.

Hello all, I will be applying with a 3.88 and 84 on HESI. Disappointed by the HESI but still hoping it's enough to get in!

Sweetpea ^, your ranking is higher than most of the people that have posted on here this year so if anything, you would get in over us lol :/

mperczi, even though your rank is calculated 50/50 by HESI and GPA, I've heard that the higher the HESI the better chances are of getting in--I read that someone had around a 3.4 and a 90 HESI and got in as opposed to someone with a high GPA and lower-scaled HESI. Then again, it all depends on the application pool for the year.

Ive heard the same too, that the higher the HESI, better chance. Something along the lines that the HESI matters more, but it might just be rumors. Idk.

It's an average between the two. Times your GPA by 25 + Hesi score ÷ 2. The higher the Hesi helps. But in my case, my higher gpa helped me.

jesster1414-- what does the result of that equation indicate? Are you in the program?

The formula she gave is for the average of the two, this is how they rank everyone.

Lol not in the program. Just stalked these threads long enough. As smyles said, that is the formula they use to rank everyone.

Its kind of mind boggling. For example, my scores..3.61 and 87 HESI plugged into the equation would basically have the same rank as someone with a 4.0 and 78 HESI and I NEVER heard of anyone getting in with a 78 HESI. Thats why im scared. So do they look at the hesi more in some cases? Helpp!! -_-

Lol nope. It's strictly just the average. Nothing else. I wish they looked at more, because maybe we all would have more of a chance. But you're right, as long as they had the 4.0, they could get in with a lower hesi. Really all depends on who applies and how many. But if we all applied last year, we all would have got in with our scores.
