MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

I never knew this about oakland? Is their program twice per year??

Its the same as macomb I think.

Their application deadline is December 15th. It would be another Hesi though and taking the second English (for me) which is what I'll have to do anyway for a BSN. I'm still deciding. I did hear that they accepted a large percentage of applicants last cycle though.

Yes about accepting a large percentage. Its true. My friend got in very easy.

I thought OCC required more pre-reqs?

Yeah easy ones and their micro doesnt even have a lab. It all depends on the person if they see that being good or bad

I'm excited for classes to start on Monday! One more semester until our applications!! Is anyone else going to attend a selective admissions nursing seminar? I feel like I should, but I'm not sure it's something I'll be able to fit into my insane schedule.

I think attending one is a requirement for admission to the program...look at your admission packet.

Is it? I read through the packet and thought it was recommended but not required. Well, I'll certainly be calling about one tomorrow then! Hopefully there will be one at a time that works for me.

It was one of the things listed for admission. There's literally tons of times all throughout the fall semester many times a month! Look at the Macomb calendar on the website.

Ok, I just spoke to someone. It's not required, just recommended. I'm going to call back tomorrow and register for one. There are a lot of them coming up. It's just difficult to schedule extra stuff between work and the kids and everything else. I can't wait to quit my job!

I'll probably try to go to one in October.

I went to one a few months ago. It's basically everything we already know just by reading these threads. They tell you what classes you need and how it's half GPA of those classes and half HESI. They also tell you what the scores of the last 5 students that got accepted were. Stuff we all know, I think.
