Hello everyone!
I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.
@Deanna- You seem to be doing well. You should definitely get in this year
@Ninaalpz- You do not need MCC credits to apply, other than their Intro to Nursing class. As long as you have those 4 required classes and take your HESI, you can apply to their program.
@appleandorange- From what I've heard, it's a Full time/Day time program. While you could work that much, it would definitely be difficult. I plan on just working weekends if I get into the program. I know not everyone has that option. There are people who do work full time and manage to maintain their grades.

Thank you so much that was my biggest concern! Finally someone has answered me lol
I'm currently in the RN program, August start. I had a 92% and 3.7103 GPA and I ranked #37, (I know you will ask) . I think you could work 32 hours in the first semester (weekends included). I do not work that much because I have support of my husband. Most people in the program are working 20-32 hr. If you are already in healthcare, that'll make it even easier due to increase comfort with patient interaction.
For me on the hesi, I'd say vocab was the most difficult. There really is no good place to study for that. I'm horrible at math and scored a 98%. The calculator is exactly the same that is on your home computer using the / to divide and * to multiply. Learn your 8th grade math because you'll need it for med calculations anyhow. Take your time to master it and it will make things sooo much easier when you do meds. If you HATE math, go to youtube videos and learn to love it.
I am loving the program. Currently we are in class M&Th. 9-12 and have clinicals Wed 7-4 (clinical schedules vary depending on site chosen for you, but it is only 1 day per week right now), so it's not outrageous. I saw some pretty amazing stuff today in clinicals! You hard work WILL pay off!
I would defintley recommed reading its is very long and I think you should get it done while you have the attention span...... I do beleive I coukd had raised my test score another 5% if I would had strategized on the test fhis time I think ill do reading first then anp then math next grammer and last vocabulary I found vocab to be pretty easy because 75% of the words came out of the book and another 10%i already knew I didnt study period for grammer last time and nothing I studiex in anp was on the test lol but I managed to get a 82 hoping to get 90 this time as well as retaking english for a A and I promise u guys everything is dead on with the book besides anp

which part of hesi do you recommend to begin with once taking the test?
