Mayo Clinic RN new graduate residency July 2019

Published

Hello Everyone!

I'm starting a thread so applicants for the Mayo Clinic AZ nurse residency program for July 2019 can communicate about the process. After reading other threads, it seems like a really good way to stay connected and ask question! Well applications just closed so let's see how this goes!

Hey everyone,

Has anyone received a call recently? I'm waiting anxiously, and hoping!

As in calls for interviews?

Yes, I meant calls for interviews, but shortly after I posted yesterday I received a rejection email. Too bad! I wish you all the best of luck :)

I emailed the recruiter who replied

"We are still scheduling interviews. All applicants will be notified at one time or another. We appreciate your patience."

Still hoping. But im getting an interview at Johns Hopkins..I wouldn't know what to do if I had to chose between Mayo and JHH ?

@Badger_RN

Were you able to apply to Dignity Health already? I haven't seen any openings there and when I called HR they told me their new grad app didn't open until May?

No I haven't applied to dignity. I talked to my friend who works there and got into the new graduate program and she just told me to keep looking for their posting. I guess we have to keep our eye out around may! Thanks for the heads up!

I have my interview next Tuesday and will let you know how it goes! What units are there options and availability for that they had you rank?

@tg95 How did your interview go?

I had an interview for an ICU position a few weeks ago and was sooo nervous!! They ask some pretty tough scenario based questions but both of the interviewers were very nice :) good luck to everyone!

Honestly, it was the most difficult interview Ive ever had! It was a general interview and you rank your preferences upon arrival, but she kind of caught me off guard because I put critical care as my number one and she told me I wasn’t eligible since I didn’t have preceptorship experience in ICU. So I had to re rank everything. They were very nice but I was SO nervous! They said we should hear the first or 2nd week of May, and that interviewed will be done by end of April. Let me know how your interviews went!!!!

Hi there!

May I ask where the Mayo interview was located at specifically? I have an interview scheduled this week but the admin on the phone said it was in another building and I was very confused. I wanted to make sure I don't end up in the wrong place!

Thanks!

It was honestly pretty difficult! They ask difficult questions..definitely the hardest interview I've had but the two interviewers were very nice!

I just read tips on how to interview with MAYO. To answer scenario questions they like to follow DETAIL but I didn't write down verbatim under those mnemonic. They want to see:

Diagnosis

Interventions

Intended outcomes

Delegate

They want to know the thought process, how do you assess them? how you intervene

Interviews at the Mayo Clinic have a two-fold purpose, according to the organization. They seek to give candidates the opportunity to learn more about the position and the organization. They also give candidates and management team members the opportunity to assess whether or not they’re a good fit for one another.

Panel interviews are very common at Mayo Clinic. During these interviews, behavior-based questions are used and the SHARE model is preferred for responses.

S – Interviewers ask candidates to describe a particular situation.

H – Interviewers want you to identify challenges and hindrances you encountered.

A – Explain your actions.

R – Examine the results.

E – Evaluate the lesson learned.
