Hello Everyone!
I'm starting a thread so applicants for the Mayo Clinic AZ nurse residency program for July 2019 can communicate about the process. After reading other threads, it seems like a really good way to stay connected and ask question! Well applications just closed so let's see how this goes!

Yes only ICU. My senior practicum and internship have been in ICU and Burn units so that have been my focus and where I'm most comfortable. I have only applied to ICU positions nationwide in level I and 2 trauma. I have 15 applications pending right now and have interviewed with a few recruiters. Banner Tucson was the first one who responded to me back in February but they wanted me to start march or April and I couldn't move til July so I need to reapply in May for the august start. Provided I dont get anything I will apply again. I'm waiting on Duke since the recruiter told me I'm a very good candidate but theyre offering positions to those who went to the open house first then they will look into online apps if there are any open positions left. They have offers for a cohort every 2 weeks til December. I should have gone to the open house where they do on the spot interviews. AZ would be a warmer place to move to though. Since you're from AZ , I'm under review for trauma ICU at flagstaff medical. I don't know anything about it but as a level 1 in such location I feel there could be a lot of interesting conditions. Any comments?
From reading other post from other cohorts, sounds like we should feel accomplished that it got forwarded. Although, I'm not getting my hopes up. I know it's a very competitive program. I guess we will see. I am expecting that people will be contacted within the next week or two for interviews.

The waiting is just killer, I'd love to at least get an interview. Even if I didn't get the job I would still love the experience.
Such a great way to look at it. The experience will be wonderful. I just keep telling myself that even if I dont get in as a new graduate, I can reapply after a year and once I get some experience. They are doing massive hiring and expanding these next couple of years! This is only the start of our careers!
Oops! I just created a thread for this same topic. Lol, I swear it didn't exist the last time I searched! I applied the first night the job opened and on Monday got an email that my "application was forwarded to hiring manager for review". Hopefully, that means I'll get a call or interview? I did the externship last summer and loved it so fingers crossed! So glad you guys are here to keep each other updated!!

Did you apply to the honorhealth and dignity ones too? I tried applying to some positions there but they all say at least 1 year RN experience required so they are all being denied. I just feel nervous only having applied to banner and mayo only.
When applying you have to look for the positions that specify that it's a new graduate position. I applied to honorhealth but they wont consider you until you have a test date for the nclex. I haven't checked recently but I didnt apply to dignity because their new graduate program wasn't open yet
I currently work at HonorHealth as a Nurse Extern. Its a pretty cool program your pretty much an extension of the nurse and you through the same orientation like computer training a new hire RN would. Its for nursing students in their last year of the nursing program and you get paid. But my director informed me they will only be hiring BSN for entry-level nurses now. So if I decided to stay I would have 30months to obtain my BSN because I am already an employee. But you do have to already have passed NCLEX I believe to apply for new graduate positions. A Banner recruiter talked to our class the other day and she said to apply west/east new graduate jobs account for all the hospitals and the other positions posted are not for new grads. She said 60day before graduation is when your able to start applying FYI.
