Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency (Az) February 2022

Published

Specializes in Critical Care.

Hey, everyone. I know it's pretty early, but I have had my eye on the Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency program in Arizona for a while. I will be graduating in December and plan on applying to their February 2022 cohort. I have seen other threads from previous cohorts that keep up with the process, information, and support each other along the way.

If you are interested in applying to this program, this thread is for you!

About me: I am from out of state, which is why I am pretty anxious to hear more information on the program. I would love to do critical care. I have not seen the residency program posted on the job board yet, so hopefully, we can keep each other updated.

Good luck to all of you!

Hi there!

Thanks for making this thread. I am also very interested in applying to Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and I am from Florida, so I’ll be out of state too! I graduate next Tuesday (yayy!) and am excited to apply. My husband and I love Arizona and to score a job there would be a dream.

I know the application period should open sometime in October, but I’m unsure of the specific date and will keep checking! In the mean time, let’s get those cover letters ready! ?

Hi everyone!

I am also applying from out of state and hoping will get a job in AZ. Do you know what is the process of getting the RN license? I am also applying in my home state, just in case I can't get a job in AZ. So is it best to apply for a compact license when taking NCLEX, or what is the best way to do this?

Hi there! Unless you are going to be moving to Arizona wayyy ahead of time (before starting at Mayo), you should go ahead and get your compact multistate license in the state you currently live in. They won’t issue you an Arizona license until your primary state of residence is an Arizona address and who knows how long that can potentially take. Once you move, you’ll have to apply for an Arizona license by endorsement but you can work with your compact license from a different state in the mean time! Hope this helps!

Yes, this helps a lot! Thank you so much!

Hi everyone! I’ll also be applying and am currently out of state. Thanks so much for starting this thread and sharing info about licensure! Very helpful.

Keeping an eye out for the application. ?

Hey everyone! I graduate in December, but just got accepted to nurse residency at the main campus in Rochester. I started a thread for Rochester too that I'll attach in case anyone is applying there too for the same timeframe! Feel free to ask me any questions you have as well! Good luck everyone!!

Hi everyone! I'm hoping someone here can answer some questions I have about this residency program. To apply I need to have a resume and transcript at minimum available to upload, correct? Is there anywhere else that has more detailed information? The phone hotline said the applications open Sept. 28 and close the 30th, so I just want to make sure I haven't missed anything important....

Thank you all!

Hi @cpierce4. Yes, the only required documents are your resume and transcripts. It sounds like we will be able to upload additional documents such as a cover letter; however, these are not required - but it's probably not a bad idea to include! ;)

Will you be graduating soon or already graduated? Are you in state or out of state? I'm excited to be applying soon!

Ah thank you for responding!

I graduate this December. I moved to Ohio for a 15 month BSN program, but I am from Arizona, so I'll move back to AZ as soon as I graduate. ?

For everyone applying, PLEASE include a cover letter. I know it says it's optional, but Mayo loves them trust me haha

@cpierce4 that's awesome! I'm also in an accelerated BSN program (in SD) and graduate in December. Are you going to apply for an AZ nursing license, or Ohio then apply for licensure by endorsement in AZ?

Thanks @nocostudentnurse! Definitely planning on it.
