Hi GodsblessedNurse,

Did you accept the offer? If you did the interview, how did it go? I have next week back-to-back interviews with the coordinator and then immediately with the hiring manager. Please some hints, I'm very nervous.

Hi, I ended up declining the offer because it didn't align with my current needs. I had interviewed to the Neuro ICU and I loved the interviewers. They were really cool and made me feel very comfortable throughout the process. They asked me more of the behavioral and clinical judgment questions. And also "Why Mayo Clinic?, why I chose nursing as a career?” Etc.

You will do great, all the best!

Nice that you got the two offers and now you decide what truly works for you. Where did you go to school? I graduated from Johns Hopkins last month!

So I have been going back and forth between jobs once I finish my schooling and my heart is at Mayo Clinic.  But I want ICU and while it says you can be a new nurse and get ICU I just wondered has anyone else gotten an offer straight from school?

When I applied, they asked me what is my interest. I applied for oncology. They interviewed me for oncology. The hiring manager told me it has to be 2 years in order to transfer to a specialty, such as ICU and ER. I think when you apply, and they reach out to you, just tell them ICU, don't give options. I read employee reviews and noticed some got into the ICU for new grads. It seems everywhere there is a shortage, so everyone wants to hire. I have back-to-back interviews. They offered me the position at the 2nd interview. I think if that is your desire, you will get it ? BLESSING.

Thank you so much!!  I am getting so pumped at the idea.

My daughter received an ICU (MICU) offer from Mayo before she graduated from her BSN program. She had completed a Summer externship at Tufts in the MICU and her capstone was in STICU. The recruiter (specific to ICUs) told her the only reason her resume made it to his desk was her externship at Tufts. Her only interview was with the recruiter, no one from the unit, no second interview, she received a verbal offer during her interview. She considered the offer and we visited Rochester but she ended up turning it down for a variety of reasons.

Did you get an offer for a unit you were interested in?

I haven't done an application yet bc the recruiter I've been in touch with said to apply between 3-6 months of graduating.  I am currently 9 months out.  I have worked as a tech in a level 1 trauma center, for 3 yrs and will be in a level 1 ICU in neuro for 18 months when I graduate and am active with student council in nursing on my campus.  I am also a preceptor to new hires.  Plus 15 yrs of CNA before becoming a tech.
