it doesn't matter what kind of nurse you are.

it doesn't matter what kind of nurse you are as long as you take care of the patient. patient care is the most important thing in healthcare, it is a priority. Also, A CNA is the most glorious thing the state has gave us nurses, they are nurses too. please be kind. If you take care of someone they don't care what you are as long as you take care of them, titles don't matter. I became an LPN in mcminnville, tn when i was 19 y/o. all i wanted to do was take care of people, i quickly learned you aren't nothing unless you are a real nurse(rn). that is not true. just take care of the patient titles doesn't matter.

So If you were born in 1982 such as I was, and I just graduated this past year from my 4 year BSN, which I entered right out of high schoool, did you go to college when you were 10 so you could complete your Masters in Education, then your CRNA, and then go on to get your Ph.D.?

I also am a paramedic, and was a CNA by state standards as I worked in an ER as a tech during nursing school. I guess it's possible to have already taken the CCRN course if you worked enough in critical care, but when did you have time to fly? You listed the CFRN exam, so just curious as to whom you flew with.

I'd say this guy is a joke. Plus, you figure someone who has gone through masters in education work, etc. that he wouldn't use grammar such as "the state has gave us nurses" and "you aren't nothing unless you are a real nurse"

I think we are missing the point of the message. I think he means we should keep in mind that just because someone is a LPN does not mean they give substandard care, and RN after a name does not automatically mean good care. I have seen CNA's inspire patients to get well. You would be surpised (may be not we are all in the profession) the small things that can give people hope and that leads to wellness. We need to look beyond the alphabet soup and see all of our co-workers and colleages as vital resources.

wow you said it . I also think that everyone in the medical field is a vital part of helping ppl to get well..no matter what thier title.. Everyone has a job to do, and if that job is not done, then the goals of the hospital are not being met. Now i am not a nurse as of yet, but i have worked as a cna in a nursing home. The cna's are the ones that work the with the patients the most. I Know that i made a difference to several patients. the title makes no difference, its what is in your heart of hearts that matters most.

Hi Patrick,

May I add my 2-cents worth ?

What if we to chunk-up, way above "humanity's self-bestowed earthly Titles", and imagine

how God, as our creator, might regard what transpires on planet earth.

As any concerned parent would, do you think God sorrows when his children behave "proud and condescending" towards one another ?, as if their earthly-titles somehow make them better.

The good book tells us that God, as no respecter of any of his children, *loves us each equally*.

other nurses have already cared to feedback their responses to your post.

In it, you mentioned the word "care" 7-x. And *living kind and caring* are just 2 of untold positives of any truely helpful individual, you know - and of course, including CNA's. In fact, I wrote an encouraging post addressing a very concerned CNA who also wants the best for the people in her care. I ended it with "Bless you :) ", for she comes across as really wanting to make a positive difference also.

And God sure appreciates it when we give our *finest and All*. Keep doing just that, Joshua - until your feelings of love, and peaceful contentment, just overflows unto other people ... :)

I hope this doesn't sound rude, but is this a real post? I'm wondering because it was hard for me to read with so many grammatical errors, and I guess I don't expect that from a PHD... Of course i write with typos too so maybe i should just mind my own business.... :uhoh21: also are you really a CRNA and APRN and PHD nurse?! Good lord what did your student loans look like? :chuckle

I may not be a nurse, YET! but I did go through four years of vocational school classes to become a CNA. The only way you can get it through the vocational school is to take Introduction to Health Sciences, Anatomy & Physiology, the actual CNA class, First Aid & CPR, Medical Terminology and Math, and Work Place Principles. All CNA's are not the same but we are all important. Didn't mean to get offended but..... sorry. :) Have a nice day.

You spent 4 years in school to be a CNA?! this is shocking to me because the longest program i have seen is 3 months.

DOB stated as 1982---all that alphabet soup, makes me skeptic.

Agree with 3rdShiftGuy:

Its a bad joke and we're being trolled methinks.

Um, it's a JOKE.

I know that we should treat each other with respect, and yada yada yada, and I know that CNA's, LPN's, etc. are INVALUABLE, but on the other hand, the title that I will possess when I graduate (RN w/ BSN) is one that I will have EARNED. And while CNA's and the rest are important to the team, they have not BUSTED their rump like I will have to have my "title". I plan on eventually getting my master's and possibly being a Midwife, both of which I will be equally proud. So to me, titles do matter because they are something you have worked for.

I was an LPN for 15 years before I went on for my RN degree....I believe I earned my title and busted my rump too. In fact, the years I had as an LPN made me a lot better RN. Good luck Super Nurse!

Having numerous titles after your name does't guarentee a good nurse, it just means you can study. The proof of the pudding is after the studying stops and you then practice your profession. Never assume you are better than others because you have credentials, unfortunatly some people dont have the luxury of being able to afford to study, nor do they have the right qualifications.

We all have a role to play in the hospital, it wouldn't function unless we all work together as a team. If the cleaners stopped cleaning! If the untrained staff stopped working! Imagine how hard your job would become.

I have many qualifications after my name but I would never ever presume or disrespect any of my co workers. Methinks you have a lot to learn that doesnt involve studying

I didn't mean that I work more than anyone else, and of course I won't know more that those with more experience, and I'm not putting anyone down, I just mean that my title will be important to me bacause I know what effort has gone into it. Of course you would be a better RN with that much experience as an LPN. ANd, yeah I know that experience is just as if not more valuable. I'm am not saying that anyone is more important because of their title by any means, as I said, it would matter to ME because I worked to have it. Again, I am not saying that one is more important than the other.
