I just had to look up the hospital! My mother's maiden name was Mather, she was from Watertown, NY and we are direct descendants of Cotton Mather. Wrong Mather!

Hi mhy,
How did you hear about the new grad program there? I haven't seen any information about it? I'm sure you will do well on your interview. I'm not sure about Mather, but have heard from others to be prepared to give a verbal head to toe assessment, and think about some of your past patient interactions/situations and what you did to make a difference in their care...just some general things to think about! Good luck!!!

I didnt, I just applied and they called me. When I asked what floor they said all new graduate RNs have to do a 6 month new grad program/fellowship before they get assigned to the floor.
I honestly dont have any other info on it other than that
Thanks for the info! Good luck on your interview!!

Hello Guys,
I just applied to the ER Fellowship posted on Mather's website on 9-30-14. Do you know if and when orientation starts? I just need to know if I should keep my hopes up or apply for another position if the Fellowship already began.

Im assuming its a little late for me to comment to the two folks above (as the new hires all started in September)
But are you a new grad/new nurse?
If so my best guess would be likely January (possibly february)
I had a friend who got hired into the recent cohort that started in September, but couldn't accept at the time for various reasons, and mentioned January as the next group.
I also had originally gotten hired in January as a new grad so there's that.
Mathers been doing some different things with new grads over the last year so I couldnt really give you better advice than that. Although from what I have seen (and experienced) new grads arent hired directly into positions at Mather (ie to be an ER nurse or icu nurse). They're just hired as "new grads" and then during the initial orientation process (which is several weeks paid in the classroom and various units) they try out different units and get placed somewhere (ie the ER, OR, ICU, CCU, etc). You do get an opportunity to pursuit whatever you like (assuming theres vacancies).
If youre looking for the craziest wildest most intense trauma heavy cases Mather probably isnt the place youre looking for. But it has a FAR better than average culture, and I think the nursing satisfaction is much greater than surrounding hospitals.
Ill add that I don't know for a fact if this is true or not. But I personally believe that bringing a resume to Mather in person would absolutely increase you chances of getting hired.
Although they have changed the hiring procedures/staffs over the last year so I dont actually know the new process
