Did they give you a reason why? Try Waukesha County Technical college. They have a outstanding nursing program and are much more organized.
I have not looked into WCTC yet. Is that where you go? I met with a counselor @ Bryant & Stratton tonight, but they are over $7000/semester. Too expensive for me at this point. I'm trying to be patient with MATC, but I lose more and more hope every semester. I've worked so hard to get to this point, and now I sit here with no classes to take until some day when my petition gets accepted......
I am applying to go there for next fall, I have spoken to a counselor about transferring my credits from MATC and they say it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to evaluate your transcripts. There are many threads on this board about WCTC, and they have the highest past rate in the state for the NCLEX, like 96% I believe. ANd Much cheaper than Stratton or Cardinal Stritch. Give it a look: http://www.wctc.edu/
I heard there is a rather long waiting list, but it's definitely worth looking into! I'll give it some thought! Thanks for your help! It's nice to see somebody my age going through the same things I am.........I always felt like I was too old for this!!

I'm a transfer student from another technical college. I have already taken the first semester nursing courses (fundamentals and pharmocology). I'm wondering how long if took for you to get into your program...since it is a lottery system...? I'm getting discouraged reading how long it took some people to be chosen.
I got in on my 3rd petition, but I've heard alot of students get in on their 2nd. I was getting very discouraged and looked into other colleges, but it's the same everywhere. Many of the RN's I work with have told me that MATC has a great program, despite what others may say. Maybe you'll be able to get in sooner, seeing that you've already completed your first few classes.....
Thank you for responding so promptly. :). Are you in the program?!? How do you like it?!? Where have you done clinicals at?
I'm set to take my PRE NLN tomorrow. Hoping that goes well and set to meet with my counselor on Thursday. Any suggestions or advice?
I hope it doesn't take 3 times to petition. How discouraging!!!!

Are there any students out there that just petitioned in September 2010 for the LPN Program for Spring 2011. I'm curious to know if the lottery process works that same as the RN program, i.e. that it may take 2 or 3 tries to get in.
I'm really hoping that the LPN Program is a litle easier to get into. I have a 3.875 GPA and scored in the 99% on my NLN. Unfortuneately, none of that matters with a lottery system.
I would like to hear from others that are also waiting for a response to their current petition.
Thank you,
Katie

Hi there!
I have also petitoned @ matc for spring 2011. However, I petitoned to the RN program. Unfortunately, this is my second time petioning. I was denied last semester. The lottery really does "screw" people who are in the upper percentiles. I hold a 3.9 GPA and scored a 134 on NLN and still did not make the cut. To be completely honest, the program is run way to disfunctionally and the staff { or much of the staff) are rude and complacent as to what is going on. I'm still awaiting a response for the spring, how about you? With my experience with the school and friend's experiences, I do not plan on staying at MATC either way. I wish you luck and I hope the LPN program is run much smoother!!
