What is your take on the issue of legalizing marijuana?

I had said medical purposes only but after reading Angie O'Plasty, RN 's post i agree with her not legal at all

I agree to certain point with her post, except for the fact that the pt would have to smoke a whole lot of Marijuana for others in the room to get a contact high. Now, I would not like to be the nurse of this pt b/c of the smell that I will have stuck to my clothes. I couldn't imagine coming home and telling my children never to smoke marijuana, while mommy smells like she just smoked a joint. :nono:

LEGALIZE IT!

A lot of ppl say "would u want your nurse/doctor/lawyer etc etc high on drugs?"

My reply is this, do you know what they do? Geez guys you would be AMAZED at the amount of doctors and lawyers that I know that snort and smoke and shoot. I mean hell, you guys know, how many nurses do you know smoke cigarettes???? How many doctors do you know smoke cigarettes?

Legalizing marijuana or keeping it illegal will not keep folks from buying, selling and using it, nor will it keep folks in the medical profession or any other profession from buying, selling and using it.

Marijuana in itself is not a gateway drug. People smoke for different reasons. Some people smoke and like the high and want something more, but marijuana is not a gateway drug because it is truly unlike any other drug. If marijuana is a gateway drug, then cigarettes will cause you to evenutally smoke crack.....come on.

It's the people not the drug. People smoke crack because they like it, they use meth because they like it, they smoke weed because they like it, they drink because they like it, they snort cocain because they like it, they shoot heroine because they like it. Not because a previous drug taken has some type of chemical enzyme that encourages you to try something else. lol, there are plenty of folks who stick with weed. The gateway drug thing is so played out.

I live in an area where it is a black market cash crop. Every year the RCMP chopper does a fly by for hidden crops. Last year, three houses down there was a grow op bust. Friends had the misfortune to buy a house that had been a growop and are trying to deal with mold, etc.

Legalize it, tax it, farm it legally. The demand for recreational usage might not be so high (pardon the pun) if it is seen as a legal product.

Organized crime is involved in the production and sales of the stuff. How easily do you think the Hell's Angels will give up a lucrative business?

Spoil sport :rotfl: :rotfl:

Make it legal and tax it.

:D

I can't believe that such a large majority is in favor of legalizing. People are not allowed to drive if they are impaired by alcohol, which is a legal substance. Then people who are "high", according to most of you, should be allowed to drive and carry on as long as they pay for the pot and pay taxes?

There is no way that taxing it would work lol.

I just don't understand the infactuation with the drug. Of course reading my last post on the subject would explain why. But I just don't see what it does for anyone. I have been high before and frankly I just don't get it. Same as with alcohol. I have been "buzzing" and sloppy drunk and I can't see that either. I do smoke cigarettes and my sister can't see what that does for me. I understand that everyone is different and what something does for one, is different for the other.

I don't understand it either. I LIKE thinking with clarity, why would i recreationally do something to change that?

Did someone say that? I think it should be legalized ,taxed and controlled just like alcohol...with "high driving" laws just like "drunk driving" laws...It's less harmful then alcohol as far as health issues.....
